NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

Adrian Peterson admits he is Superman!

by James on October 21st, 2007

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Adrian Peterson also fights crime

SupermanFaster than a speeding bullet.

Able to jump tall buildings in a single bound.

Squibster Note: Never got that one. Why jump when you can fly?

Able to wear brightly colored underwear with a cape in public and people think it is cool.

Who is it? Why it is AD, Adrian Peterson and his alter ego Superman.

You remember Adrian “All Day” Peterson, don’t you? He is the guy most GM’s were afraid to draft because he was deemed injury prone. Some thought he may not play this year.

An si.com report on the eve of the draft asserted that Peterson, who missed most of his final season at Oklahoma with a broken collarbone, had re-aggravated the injury during the Fiesta Bowl and might not be ready for the start of training camp. The next morning, an NFL Network analyst suggested Peterson might not be able to play until 2008. source

Now AD leads the NFL in rushing as a rookie and he is not even the starter for the Minnesota Vikings; that spot belongs to Chester Taylor. Adrian has 607 yards so far.

NFL Adrian Peterson factoid AD’s father played hoops at Idaho State University, his mother ran track as a sprinter for University of Houston, his Uncle was a Phoenix Cardinal (NFL) in 1992.

Adrian is big at 6′ 2″ and 218 pounds with a very upright running style. In fact if there is a knock on AD it is the lack of shiftiness due to being more of a straight ahead runner.

Hmm, seems to me that Herschel Walker ran kind of upright in a straight line and he sure did ok.

Oops, did not mean to mention Herschel when talking Vikings. The memory of the trade is still burning in the fans brains.

It is simply referred to as “The Trade.” It was the largest player trade in NFL history, and it led to a Super Bowl caliber Vikings squad being decimated, a 2-time Super Bowl champion Cowboys team being built, and Vikings GM Mike Lynn being perhaps the most hated man in the world by Vikings fans. The Trade took place on October 12, 1989. Believing the Vikings to be only a big-time RB away from winning it all, Lynn acquired Herschel Walker from the Cowboys and new owner Jerry Jones and new coach Jimmy Johnson for 5 roster players (LB Jesse Solomon, DB Issiac Holt, RB Darrin Nelson, LB David Howard, DE Alex Stewart), and 6 assorted draft picks (conditional 1st & 2nd round in ‘90 and ‘91; 1st round and conditional 3rd in ‘92). source

So maybe a better comparison is Eric Dickerson!

“People talk about a new breed, and with his size and speed he really may be that guy,” Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman said Monday while watching the Giants-Falcons game from his downtown Dallas condo. “You’re always hearing that ’so-and-so runs like Eric Dickerson,’ but I think this is the guy who really does.” source

Adrian Peterson is not shy about his goals.

Later during the meal, Peterson said of his impending transition to the NFL, “I’m coming in to be mentioned with the best that ever played. I’m setting my bar high, reaching past the moon to the stars. I want to win Super Bowls, lead the league in rushing. I want to be the rookie of the year. What’s it take for me to get there? I’ve got it laid out. I know.”

The Vikings are young and inexperienced with a struggling Tarvaris Jackson at QB, so a Super Bowl may be out of the question right now, but all those other lofty goals seem very possible right now.

So, instead of wearing brightly colored underwear and a cape, All Day will settle for a Purple jersey with a horned helmet.

That way no one knows Adrian is really Superman!

NFL Football Fan Question How soon before AD is the starting running back?

4 opinions for Adrian Peterson admits he is Superman!

The saying in the motto for Superman about jumping tall buildings is because the original 1920’s Superman couldn’t fly. Only jump real far…

As for Adrian Peterson and the Vikes… It’s hard for me to say this as a Bears fan, but they played a good game. A lot better then us, and they deserved to win the way our defense just laid down for them.

But maybe AP will be the next LT, it’d be cool to have 2 running backs of that caliber in the league, especially if you’re a Madden(ing) fan.

Depends on the family I suppose. Wii is great for parties and family play since there are games like Mario and Wii Sports. PSP is handheld? PS3 is good for blu-ray movies at the moment, XBox has something for everyone.

But the whole Superman stuff, just knew that from when I was well into comic books. Had to know everything about the heroes.
