NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

Adrian Peterson - will he carry the Vikes to glory?

by James on September 14th, 2007

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

From Sooners to Vikings, Adrian is off and running

Adrian PetersonAdrian Peterson is a Viking and a very good running back. He also happens to be a rookie and usually not a whole lot of praise is heaped on a rookie.

Oh, you get the “He looks good”, and the “He is fast/quick/big/strong/smart” stuff, but usually a rookie is fantastic if he can just have a normal year.

You see, it is a huge adjustment to go to the Pro’s.

Still, Adrian Peterson is earning his praise.

Peterson simply dazzled in his NFL debut against the Falcons. The seventh overall pick gashed the Falcons run defense for 103 rushing yards on just 19 carries. Peterson caught a touchdown, sprinting past the Atlanta defense for 60 yards on the scoring play. He also had a 22-yard return on a kickoff. We cannot confirm or deny that he also poured the drinks and directed the band at the half, but few would doubt that he did.

With his perfect blend of power, speed and vision and an incredible work ethic, Peterson is running his way toward winning Rookie of the Year. source

If you don’t believe me about the NFL being a huge adjustment, just listen to Adrian himself.

Peterson said, “I am just so thankful for the opportunity to be blessed to come out and have a good game. I was a bit excited at first and a bit overwhelmed. Definitely you notice the difference in the speed of the game first and foremost. In college, there were holes that were there a lot longer. On Sunday, these holes closed up in a split second, if that. The game is played at a much faster level. But I was very happy how the first game turned out.”

The Vikings play the Lions this Sunday and the NFL had to give the Lions an extension to sell out. Yeah, it is the slumping Vikings against the perennially bad Lions.

There must be a sellout by 4:05 p.m. Friday. The Lions have never had a television blackout for a regular-season home game since they moved to Ford Field in 2002. source

Adrian is poised to bring back the excitement.

Speaking of the Detroit Lions, Coach Rod Marinelli is very enamored with Adrian Peterson.

Marinelli thought Peterson was awesome, too. He loved the tape he had seen of the Fiesta Bowl — Peterson sprinting downfield to make a tackle after an interception against Boise State.

“The effort,” Marinelli said. “To get up off the ground. That spoke volumes to me about the type of person he is and the type of player he is.” source

In fact, Coach Marinelli had a nickname for Adrian.

Marinelli called Peterson “a violent man” who can “go downhill as hard as I’ve seen,” and he told his players they could not let the Vikings chew up the clock to keep their offense off the field.

This Sunday should reveal to the North Division if Adrian is ready to bring back the Vikings to glory!

NFL Football Fan Question Have you had a chance to see Adrian run yet?
