Ben Roethlisberger, what have you done?
From the Pittsburgh-Tribune Review
“I feel ready to go out there,” Roethlisberger said. “Now, if all of a sudden I feel light-headed or dizzy, which would be news to me, then obviously we’ll have something to talk about. But as of right now, I plan on going out there, being with the first group and going strong. Source

From your intrepid writer
Ben, Ben, Ben, your accident has just added fuel to the fire of what has been a long list of negatives for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the off season, something they did not need. Facing a tough schedule and a lot of opponents itching to beat the champs, several things have gone awry for the Steelers.
Pittsburgh appears to be heading away from having a great season and Big Ben is just the latest in a string of problems. Of course, we all know Jerome Bettis retired after the Super Bowl. It did not stop there, with defensive tackle Kimo von Oelhoffen signing with the New York Jets and safety Chris Hope signing with Tennessee.
Side Note Did you know that Jerome Bettis suffered from asthma since the age of 14?
That would have been enough, but wide receiver Antwaan Randle El signed with the Washington Redskins. So what, you say? Well, the memory of Antwaan and all three A’s in his name blowing through the Michigan State line time after time as a quarterback in 2001 will not go away.
The Spartans lost to the Hoosiers in football that year 37-28. The Hoosiers! How is that possible? Well, it was all Randle El. For the Steelers, Antwaan had over 1,000 yards of punt returns, kickoff returns, receptions, and rushes just last year.
Pittsburgh’s woes continued with elite draft pick Santonio Holmes from Ohio State getting an off season disorderly conduct. This in spite of having one of the coolest football names around. Some very big things are expected in Holmes pro career.
The final clincher may be the knee surgery for Joey Porter. Joey will sit out the first practice. Surgery is never good for a linebacker, but in a contract year it can be fatal, at least to the pocketbook.
Keep in mind, one time Eastern Michigan QB and a former Detroit Lion; Charlie Batch would be the backup for Big Ben. Charlie’s legacy as starting quarterback of Detroit is, well, what every starting QB for Detroit has done and that is to lose.
Fan Question What do you think? Can Big Ben come back and lead Pittsburgh back into the playoffs? We did not think they would win last year. Don’t forget, a lot of things went Pittsburgh’s way last year during the season. Has their luck run out?
