Ok, with a title like that there has to be a story.

Brett Favre tied the Jets all time record for touchdowns in a game with 6. Who had the record before? Broadway Joe Namath, that’s who.
Joe Namath, by the way, still owes me 5 bucks in my mind. Oh yeah, for you old timers, your intrepid author bet on the Colts in that storied game against the AFL champs, the New York Jets. 5 bucks. The losing didn’t hurt, because we all idolized Joe as kids. No, it was losing to my non-sports following buddy that hurt. Oh, and 5 bucks was a lot of money back then.
Now Brett Favre, another guy to idolize because he seems to be having so much fun, makes a lot of big throws, and never misses a game, comes along and throws 6 touchdown passes in one game.
But what about Coles? Did Coles and Favre break up or something? Coles caught 3 of the touchdown passes.
Favre threw his three touchdown passes to Coles in that quarter. The first might have been the most impressive. On third down, Favre fired a pass almost sidearm past three defenders and into Coles’s waiting arms in the back of the end zone.
“That was like a baseball throw,” Bowens said.
Coles finished with eight receptions for 105 yards, and after the third touchdown grab, he found Favre on the sideline and gave him the ball. Coles remains best friends with Chad Pennington, the quarterback the Jets cut when they traded for Favre in early August. As such, Coles’s chemistry with Favre developed slowly, especially after Coles struggled with injuries in training camp. Both have insisted nothing was ever wrong, but they never connected the way they did Sunday.
Handing Favre the touchdown ball marked something of a peace offering during an afternoon when Favre, Coles and the offense showed their potential in that wild second quarter.
