Calvin Johnson calmly cooly for a TD

Calvin Johnson is Megatron
It was not the sort of play that most of us thought Calvin Johnson would be making in the NFL.
Come on, admit it, you thought he would be leaping high for fade passes in the corner of the end zone or hauling in racing grabs down the field after out sprinting the cornerback for an easy touchdown.
Calvin Johnson is a big man for a receiver and a big man period. Johnson stands 6′ 5″ tall and weighs around 240 pounds.
The man can fly down the white striped turf at a rate of 4.3 for the 40. He is not supposed to be that big and be that fast.
Roy Williams calls him Megatron, because Johnson’s hands are so big.
Wait, wait, you forgot to ask me about the ‘play’.
It was a crucial play in the Lion’s victory over the Tampa Bay Bucs 23 - 16
There was less than 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter and the Lions were uncharacteristically for a Mike Martz powered offense, powering the ball down the field by using the run. The score was 17 - 6, so the game was still somewhat in doubt and as it turns out very much in doubt.
Kitna called the reverse and faked to Kevin Jones heading into the line following Bradley the fullback. Then Jon reversed the ball to Megatron and he headed to the right sideline.
There were two defenders and one blocker, so Johnson just sort of slowed up and waited for the block to develop. Your intrepid author of so little faith felt Johnson was going to be nabbed behind the line.
The block came on the outside defender and Johnson slithered through the hole between the inside defender and the block, then he turned and stiff armed Derrick Brooks and headed with long strides to the outside leaving in his dust one of the linemen.
Johnson then put a move on the safety, got past him and finished him off with a stiff arm and then, off balance, loped into the end zone.
The Squibster had to replay the play in slo mo and fast mo just to believe what he had seen.
This guy is good.
This guy is fast.
This guy is a wide receiver that is actually going to be a star in this league.
Proving that if you are Matt Millen and you draft enough wide receivers, you can end up with some good ones.
It was a touchdown by Calvin Johnson on an end around and that was not what we were expecting, was it?

Yeah it’s a fair point about Johnson showing a surprise new dimension that potentially marks him out as an elite NFL player - not just a ‘go up and get it’ receiver. Do the Lions need this type of player right now, well maybe, but they’d be happy just to see him post some Colston-type rookie receiving numbers for now.
Do the Bucs still aggressively over-pursue on defence (as they have done for the last six seasons) and were they totally set up to be suckered by the reverse. Yes and yes.

Ibet, your bio says you are a robot! How can robots get a feel for the team that will win?

It’s all mechanics these days! Anyway back to the original question….YES Calvin Johnson will become the biggest Johnson in the NFL. A superstar in the making, maybe a few more gadget plays would confirm it.
