Calvin Johnson or Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell - How to be a Draft Expert!
NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Sit down with Brady Quinn and be a drafting expert!
Make sure you are sitting down.
If you are driving in a car, then maybe the seatbelt should be on.
What the heck are you doing reading this in a moving car? Are you Millen or something?
Squibster dictionary - Millen
1. To be daft or otherwise not with it.
2. to continuously draft wide receivers.
3. To be a GM with a football team with a name like Lions and have an anti prodigious record.
Let’s not take an Al Davis on this draft, rather let’s take a group approach.
Squibster dictionary - Al Davis…
1. To take a singular one man’s opinion on anything.
2. To draft and trade your own way, in spite of any advice from your coach or other draft or trade analysts.
3. To be a President of the Oakland Hairbraiders.
4. To run something similar to a NFL team and have the first name Al.
Anyway, if you are settled we can get into it now.
USA Today has an 8 team panel of so called draft experts including Derek Harper and Rob Rang of NFLDraftScout.com.
We are going to add up each of the 8 picks for each round and go through draft and something interesting will happen! You will become a draft expert!
Anyway, without further ado, the USA Today Mock NFL Draft for April 11 as compiled by your intrepid author.
Here are the rules. (If they don’t work, we will change them.)
1. If the majority of the panel (we will say 4 of them) pick the same player that is your pick.
2. If they don’t, you trade with a team below.
3. When your pick comes back up after a trade, you take the player most chosen that is left on the board.
| Team | Most Chosen Player left | Pick |
|---|---|---|
| Oakland | 8 straight JaMarcus Russell’s | JaMarcus Russell |
| Lions * | 3-Brady Quinn’s | not a majority, trade pick to Tampa |
| Tampa ** | 6-Calvin Johnson’s | Calvin Johnson with Lions number 2 pick |
| Cleveland | 5-Brady Quinn’s | Brady Quinn |
| Lions *** | 2-Joe Thomas | Joe Thomas with Tampa’s number 4 pick |
| Arizona | 4-Gaines Adams | Gaines Adams |
| Washington | 4-Amobi Okoye | Amobi Okoye |
| Minnesota & | 3-Landry,3-Peterson not a majority | trade to Atlanta |
| Atlanta && | 4-LaRon Landry | LaRon Landry with Minnesota’s pick |
| Minnesota &&& | 3-Adrian Petersons | Adrian Peterson with Atlanta’s number 8 pick |
Picky details
* No majority Lions traded pick to Tampa (Cleveland sees no advantage to trade with Lions)
** Tampa uses Lions number 2 pick
*** Tampa Bays number 4 pick from trade
& No majority, Minnesota trades down with Atlanta
&& Atlanta uses Minnesota number 7 pick
&&& Atlanta number 8 pick from trade
Now that was easy, wasn’t it?
You are now draft expert!
As a Lions fan, to end up with a Left Tackle after having the number 2 pick is not very exciting, but where would the Lions be if they had just drafted the best offensive or defensive lineman in all of Matt Millen’s drafts?
Yeah, that is right, way ahead of where they are now!
NFL Football Fan Question So how do you pick players?
