Charles Rogers - is he still a Detroit Lion?

by James on August 5th, 2006

Charles RogersNo, No, this writer is not saying the Detroit Lions let Charles go. It is just that he did not get reps in yesterdays walk through and was not involved in the two minute drills today.

Rod Marinelli had this to say

Asked if Rogers was behind, if he was doing something the coaches didn’t like, Marinelli said: “No. We’re just working some of the other guys in. Don’t read too much into it.”

Well, what is he going to say? “We are floating his name around for trade?” No, of course not.

Rogers factoids Charles was 2nd in the 100 meters, 1st in the 200 meters, and 1st in the 800 meter relays at the 2000 MHSAA Lower Peninsula Division 1 Championships.

More Rogers factoids Charles won 4 track titles and 1 football state championship in high school.

Charles has always been a great athlete. Your intrepid author had the chance to see him play basketball and he was awesome. His team, Saginaw High School, lost in the semi finals against eventual state champion Lansing Waverly. Waverly had Marcus Taylor (Michigan State University) and Brent Scott (Oakland University). Saginaw had Anthony Roberson (Florida, Memphis Grizzlies). Charles led all scorers with 31 points.

Fan Question Your humble writer enjoyed Charles setting the MSU touchdown record, but has not enjoyed his lack of productivity at the Pro level. Can Charles get it done or get a one way ticket out of town?

detroit feels they lost some money and respect around the league. they need to mold the talent look at the cowboys. they had a h* house next to the practice field. detroit is so unprofessional .they need to keep their laundry in house instead of panicking and screaming bloody murder. one (1) playoff win in how many years. the e xpansion teams have outdone detroit . it’s not the players. the head aint right so the body aint right. they hired marinelli as head coach and martz as o coordinator.so they didn’t have to pay (martz) for his superbowl ring as a head coach. who the “bleep” is marinelli and how does he compare to martz?

Greg, this scribe hears you loud and clear. Charles is bonafide talent. It just oozes out of him. Why aren’t they playing him right now when it could matter. When they could either incorporate him into the offense or at least be auditioning him for a trade or something.

of course, to find fault with the Lions is all too easy.
