Chicago Bears dominate the Detroit Lions

Rex Grossman and the Chicago Bears showed the Football world why they are the odds on favorite to win the North Division of the NFC. The Bears put the hurt on the Lions 34 -7. Today’s game with the Detroit Lions was over before the first quarter was over. The Bears blitzed on 6 of the first 16 plays and your crying in his beer author swears that all 6 were successful in creating havoc.
Meet the Bears Defensive Line
The Detroit Lions destructed early with a fumble by Jon Kitna at the 2 yard line. The Bears put up 7 points in short order. By the time the 1st quarter was over the Lions had 6 penalties and 2 fumbles and were behind by 10 points to the best defense in all of football, the Chicago Bears.
NFL Football Rex Grossman stat review Rex had 262 yards, 1 TD, and a 98.6 quarterback rating. He also had all day in the pocket to throw.
Squibster meets Marinelli
Come on, Lions, you can come back. Just settle down and play some ball. Yeah, right. The half ended with the Bears leading 24 to zip. The Lions had 10 penalties by that time. Needless to say your intrepid author went ballistic and had to be drugged out with thorazine and taken to the mental rest home.
After several minutes in my padded cell there was a rumbling sound behind me. It was Rod Marinelli, the coach of the Lions, mumbling something about zebra’s, penalties, and execution. To Rod’s credit, he took all of the blame after the game.
Lovie Smith, the head coach of the Bears, was on the other sideline from Marinelli feeling bad for his old pal. They coached together at Tampa Bay under Tony Dungy. Lovie built the Chicago Bears based on defense. The feeling is that Marinelli will do the same with the Lions given time. By the way, your gallivanting author is sure that Lovie was not feeling bad for too long. His team is 2 and 0 and headed towards more victories.
If there is any solace for the Lions, at least they scored 7 points. Last week the Bears shut the Packers out.
NFL Football Fan Question Rod took the blame, but for us Lions fans it is the same ol’ same ol’. What do the Lions need to do to fix this? For you Bear’s fans, how good does it get?
