NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

Dallas Cowboys do not rule Terrell Owens

by James on August 28th, 2006

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Warning: this blog contains references to Klingons and Movie Stars! Proceed at your own peril.

Terrell Owens biography comTerrell Owens is fined 9,500 dollars for missing meetings during his hamstring rehab. This reminds me of the analysis on Bill Gates of Microsoft. He makes so much money on the job that he is better off leaving a 10,000 dollar bill on the ground than spending the time to pick it up. (Sorry about the math, in the 4 seconds spent to pick it up he would have made more money by being at work)

Let’s face it, the guy signed for a 5 million dollar signing bonus. He probably can afford an accountant that will make the fine a tax write-off. In the NFL, that is a pretty big fine, but to TO it is nothing but chump change. In other words, he could care less. Unfortunately, it appears he could care less about a lot of things.

Nothing incites us fans like a player that could care less. To us, it seems like an enormous privilege to even play in the NFL. If only we could, instead of TO. We dream about it and to us it does not seem like work. We would be dedicated, never miss meetings, always watch what we eat, be nice to fans. Of course, we never show even an inkling of this dedication or ‘ambition to greatness’ in our own lives. But, hey, that is different, right?

Scott Mitchell ESPN comShout Outs A big shout out to Mike K. Although, Henning came after the Washington debacle, so did Scott Mitchell. Brett threw for more yards that year by less than the length of the football field. Ahh, the years run together. (A little Lions inside stuff)

Now as a player, TO is top notch, he is a monster as he receives the ball and takes those long strides and just seems to glide through would be tacklers. Every team would love to have a positive attitude Terrell Owens, but very few teams will take the chance on him right now.

Clive Owens pictures comNow here is the rub, as Clive Owen said in his recent movie Inside Man (an excellent movie, by the way. Clive Owen is a bank robber and Denzel Washington is the Detective on the case. Clive takes hostages, but not the money and … what the heck, getting carried away. Just go rent it. The Squibster has spoken! )

Klingons StarTrek comAnyway, now here is the darn rub again. Sports are a business, first. They are a sport, only after they are a business. There will always, repeat, always be a team that wants a TO. Why? Because you may win it all before TO ruins your team’s chemistry. That is right, it is money before honor. No Klingon values here. Just hand me the semolians, the drachma, the rubles, whatever you got.

So, get over your TO bashing and enjoy the man when he plays, because he is dominant, whether he plays in these preseason baloney matches or not. Sorry to tell you, but my boss and yours are not going to allow us to behave like Terrell and not going to offer us any huge multi-million bonus’s either. Time to enjoy football.

Oh and by the way, it is just fine to root against and vehemently boo the TO.

NFL Football Fan Question Will you boo the TO? Even if you are a Cowboy fan?
