NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

Fantasy Football - can it take the joy out of winning?

by James on October 8th, 2006

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Roy takes a Stinger

Roy WilliamsYou will find the Squibster a broken man with nowhere to go. So many factors conspired to destroy the football spirit of your intrepid author. It leaves me with a desolate Fantasy Football team sure to go down in defeat.

Nobody warned me that Fantasy Football can take joy away as well as give it.

The first factor is the bye week for the team that has two of my primary players. The team would be… Cincinnati and those players would be Rudi Johnson and Carson Palmer.

The second factor would be an injury to a primary player. That player would be Roy Williams of the Detroit Lions. Roy took a stinger on the back of the neck on the first pass play of the game against the Vikings.

The third factor would be the Apple Orchard. The Squibster went to the Apple Orchard instead of watching the Lions game. No problem there. They were 0 and 4 going into the game. The problem came from watching the game on the big screen hi def in the basement using the DVR and fast forwarding between plays. By the end of the game, the Lions had blown it once again and your apple picking author (Squibster full disclosure - we went for the Empires) had a headache from staring constantly at the screen to know when to turn off the fast forward.

The fourth factor was the jinx. We will call his name Ted. That is his real name, so we don’t divulge his fake name. Ted wanted the Tigers good fortune to extend to the Lions. Ted pays attention to your football team and they lose.

Rudi JohnsonThe fifth and final factor was how the joy of the Lions springing a possible upset (they didn’t) was taken away because it conflicted with my Fantasy Team.

Roy could not score points for my Fantasy Football team, because he was out with the stinger. Kevin Jones was my fill in for Rudi Johnson and could not score for my Fantasy Football team, because, without Roy, the Vikings focused on stopping the run. So the Lions were winning, but Kevin and Roy were not scoring or getting yards.

Geez, it was great when the Lions were losing and Rudi Johnson was running wild and leading my fantasy team to victory. Any Lions fan can handle losing. The football world can be very complicated.

NFL Football Fan Question Have you experienced the highs and lows of Fantasy Football? Tell me about it.

As always any questions related to NFL Football or Ted the Jinx are welcome. Just kidding, Ted. There is no such thing as a jinx.
