The Colts have come up with 3 straight victories to get back in the race.

Peyton has put together 3 straight great games for a combined 7 touchdown passes.

Yeah, the Titans will win the division, but don’t write the Colts out of the playoffs yet.

The schedule looks reasonable — at the fading (4-6) San Diego Chargers on Sunday, at the faded (3-6 going into Monday night) Cleveland Browns, home against the nearly invisible (1-8-1) Cincinnati Bengals, home against the winless (that would be 0-10) Detroit Lions, who warrant no other adjectives, at the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-6), then at home against the Titans. Not a winning record in sight but the Titans.

“November and December, that’s the time when the good football teams step up,” says running back Dominic Rhodes.

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
As my history in the making Detroit Lions fight it out for dead last in the NFL, another sign of ineptitude shines through with a truly wimpish number 32 slot in the latest ESPN Power rankings.

Rod Marinelli says he is committed to doing things his way. Not sure if anything else needs to be added. (KS)

source

It is astounding to me that the ever popular coaching haven, the Oakland Raiders, still has the number 31 slot in spite of 2 victories. The Lions need not fear as there does not even appear to be one possible victory left on their schedule.

Yes, my Lions know how to not get it done.

If they pull off the first winless 16-game season, many people will wonder: Why the Lions? Why, of all the horrible NFL teams of the last three decades, can this one go 0-16?

The poor St. Louis Rams, for example, have scored fewer points than the Lions. They have allowed more points than the Lions. And yet, through no fault of their own, the Rams have won two games.

They must kick themselves. What, they must wonder, is the Lions’ secret?
source

So what is the secret?

It is a deadly combination of bad coaching, lifeless quarterbacks, lack of talent, tough scheduling (they don’t play the four other terrible teams), and an inability to do anything well.

Oh, in case you were wondering, Tyler plays for Kansas City. You remember, the Chiefs, former kind of good team and now 1 -9 fighting for the number one pick of the draft.

My Fantasy team goes down in flames.

Ocho Cinco is a happy Bengal?

This is a little perplexing. On the one hand there is a somewhat happy Ocho in Cincinnati and they are failing to win and Mr. Cinco is failing to produce. Believe me on that second one, because he is on the bench of my Fantasy Football team.

So is a non-producing happy Ocho Cinco better than a disgruntled producing Ocho Cinco?

And just how did he get so happy?

“Donovan was a big influence,” Ocho Cinco told reporters on Wednesday. “[He] really is one of the reasons why I really turned myself around and looked at my situation as more of a positive outlook and just thinking about all the people that would love to play this game, you know?

“He took me in that direction, instead of thinking about, ‘Oh, I’m tired of losing and I don’t want to be here anymore,’ but just thinking about, ‘Man, a lot of people wish they were in your shoes just to have the ability to play in the NFL.’ That kind of turned me around, and that’s why I’ve been as positive as I have been this year, and even though we’re losing, man, I’ve just been plugging away.”

source

For the sake of my Fantasy Football team let’s learn to be unhappy. How about it?

Your 401K? It is shot.

Your house value? It has also gone down the tubes.

Your job? Well, let’s just say your boss may be telling how lucky you are to even have a job, because a lot of people don’t.

Thankfully the NFL is going to reduce some prices too. They have announced a 10% reduction in playoff ticket prices.

Citing economic challenges facing fans as the reason for the reduction, the NFL confirmed the lower prices Wednesday. But the specific leaguewide average playoff ticket price cannot be determined until the home playoff sites are decided; prices vary from market to market depending on costs for regular-season tickets.

“We want to be responsive to the economic challenges facing our fans,” an NFL spokesman said.

The average price of the playoff tickets sold last year for wild-card and divisional rounds, and conference championship games was $121.

But that was just the end of the game. During the rest of the time, it was the Kurt Warner show.

Kurt was 32 for 42 for 328 yards and 3 tds as Arizona won 29 - 24 on Monday night.

The former arena league and Super Bowl quarterback has the Cardinals in 1st place.

Yeah it was only the 49ers and Shaun Hill was their quarterback, but it was still a heck of a game. You can already see the imprint that Coach Mike Singletary will have on the 49ers and slowly they will become a power running team, but right now they are not quite there.

On the other sideline, Kurt Warner had to anxiously watch as the 49ers found a way to move down the field to the two yard line only to be stopped on a running play. Kurt was definitely happy and relieved when the game ended.

So the one person that has the NFL Network on cable got to watch the game on TV. The rest of us had to go to NFL.com and watch the game on our PC.

Brady Quinn has the Browns ahead by 10 at half against Jay Cutler and the Denver Broncos.

Hey, that would be all good, except my Fantasy Football Team happens to have 3 Broncos starting. Jay Cutler at quarterback. Eddie Royal at wide receiver. Tony Scheffler at tight end. Tony is doing all right, but Jay and Eddie have to get it going.

Quinn has already thrown 2 touchdown passes to Kellen Winslow. Yeah, it all seems like a strange dream, doesn’t it.

Is the NFL going to base its TV NFL Network strategy on stealing the Thursday night games? Does not seem like that is going to work. Wonder how long this game will be free on my PC?

Still mad at my Lions for not drafting Brady Quinn or Jay Cutler. Then again, they would have probably failed in a Lions uniform.

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Oakland was very happy to get DeAngelo Hall from the Falcons and rewarded him with a 70 million dollar contract.

Interim Coach Tom Cable cut him.

Why?

Two reasons. One, DeAngelo was inconsistent in the Oakland man to man defense.

In his eight games in Oakland, Hall was beaten 40 times for 552 yards on 66 passes thrown his way, according to data compiled by STATS LLC. He gave up more yards than any defender this season and was tied for third worst in catches allowed.

source

The second reason is to let everyone know they are accountable, that the Raiders mean business.

Players are not sure what to think. Asomugha, the opposite corner, is a little bothered.

Asomugha said the recent moves have led to some players being tentative on the field, afraid that they could be next to lose their starting job or spot on the team.

“There’s been some things that have been going on, some shakeups, that I haven’t agreed with,” Asomugha said. “Like I said, I’m not allowed to speak on it because we’re just supposed to shut up and play. But you ask me if I agree with it? I don’t agree with it.”

Just a week ago, interim coach Cable said that Hall was back to resembling the player he was in Atlanta, when he made it to two Pro Bowls. But in his last game, he was beaten for a 37-yard touchdown pass to Michael Jenkins on the opening drive of a 24-0 loss to his former Falcons team.

Big Ben Roethlisberger looks like he had his arm sowed on wrong in this picture

If you watched the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football, you came away with some definite impressions.

First off, you could feel the pain of the Steeler fans when Big Ben Roethlisberger got hurt.

Roethlisberger re-injured his right shoulder while scoring from one yard out on a quarterback sneak near the end of the first half in last night’s 23-6 victory in Washington. Byron Leftwich replaced him and completed 7 of 10 passes, one for a score.

source

Ben is not the best quarterback in the business, but he is a good one and a quick decision maker and a tough guy like the Steelers represent.

The second impression is that the Steelers defense is awesome. Even with Byron Leftwich at quarterback, the Steelers will be tough to beat.

It is unfortunate that Ben either won’t be there or won’t be at full strength for this week’s Colts game.

How can the Browns bench Derek Anderson? Answer that, will you? It seems to be the cry of the fans.

The inconsistent Pro Bowl quarterback, whose production this season has been slowed by dropped passes, was benched on Monday by the Browns, who will start popular backup Brady Quinn on Thursday night against the Denver Broncos in hopes of turning around a disappointing season.

The surprising and unexpected swap was announced Monday by the team, just hours after coach Romeo Crennel said he had no plans to make a change.

source

This is a very controversial decision and you wonder how much Romeo Crennel had to do with it. Brady Quinn better do great or the fans may turn on him as well.

Dilfer said he saw first-hand that the Browns are “highly dysfunctional and cannot make decisions that are good for the long-term growth of the organization. These types of decisions are exactly why they’re not a winner now and they won’t be a winner in the future. It’s a knee-jerk reaction by the owner to fill seats.”

He added that it’s a great opportunity for Quinn, especially against a bad Broncos defense, ranked 29th. But he warned, “Brady Quinn should be concerned about something. If they’re willing to make this decision on D.A., a guy that I admired, I watched play well, went to the Pro Bowl last year, just had a big contract, and I see how quickly they turn on him, the organization and the fans, ‘Well, what’s going to happen to me after I throw a couple interceptions?’ And that’s bad news for Brady Quinn.”
