NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

Giants beat Cowboys 36 - 22

by James on October 24th, 2006

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Plaxico Burress hauls it in

Plaxico BurressThe New York Giants proved to be too much for the Dallas Cowboys. There were all kinds of things happening in this game. Sometimes the distractions were more important than the actual game.

You had the Tiki Barber retirement tour, as Tiki, leading the league in rushing, announced his retirement this week. The speculation is that he has a job lined up somewhere in news broadcasting or sports broadcasting. Tiki had 114 yards rushing and 32 yards receiving. Do the lawn mower. rrrmmppphh.

There was the 50 yard bomb… into triple coverage by Eli Manning to Plaxico Burress. The only problem was the 3rd person in coverage was the referee and he got in the way of the safety trying to intercept the ball. Plax played for my Michigan State Spartans and made a lot of big catches there as well.

Strahan ties LT in sacks

Michael StahanThere was Strahan tieing LT (Lawrence Taylor) in the all time sack department with 132.5 in his career by sacking Bledsoe twice.

There was Brandon Jacobs doing a Terrell Owens dance on the logo of Dallas after a touchdown. Not to be denied, TO also scored a TD and did the dance himself.

There was LaVar Arrington having a monster game, including sacking Bledsoe for a safety, and then LaVar tore his achilles tendon and had to leave the game. The torn achilles is a difficult injury to come back from.

There was Kevin Dockery with his first career interception going for a 96 yard touchdown for the Giants.

But maybe the biggest story of all, was Tony Romo coming in for Bledsoe at halftime. It appears the Cowboys have lost faith in the ability of Bledsoe to take the Cowboys to the Super Bowl. This is a huge move. Romo is not as good right now. The Cowboys are banking that he can become better than Bledsoe with more snaps. If they are wrong, it will also destroy Bledsoe’s confidence. The Cowboys are rolling the dice.

NFL Football Fan Question The Giants have beaten all three division rivals. Are they going to win the division? The announcers called Romo replacing Bledsoe a sea change. Can Romo get it done?

As always, any NFL related comment is welcome.
