Gruden critiques Lions moves
NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
The Detroit Lions have made numerous moves in the off season to get back into contention. Some other coaches were asked about the moves.
Tampa Bay coach Jon Gruden, on cornerback Brian Kelly and safety Kalvin Pearson: “Kelly’s a hell of a player. If he stays healthy, he’s a dominant player, in my opinion. We’ll miss Kalvin Pearson a lot. He was an excellent special teams player. Excellent. He can play safety if you give him a chance.”
Lions hope Brian Kelly dominates at cornerback
Pittsburgh Coach Mike Tomlin, a former Bucs coach also liked the Kelly deal. Mike likes the Dwight Smith at defensive end deal, too.
Cleveland Coach Romeo Crennel calls safety Leigh Bodden a player that can play both man to man and zone.
Listen to New Orleans Coach Sean Payton.
on linebacker Alfred Fincher: “With Alfred, we had moved on because we had other players at the position. He’ll be very tough and diligent. He’ll work hard. He’s big. He’s strong. I like him. In the end, we had kind of gone through that process of evaluation and moved on to the next player.”
Finally, Indianapolis Coach Tony Dungy chimes in on linebacker Gilbert Gardner, saying Gilbert is explosive, smart, and a hard worker.
Hmm, they all sound like Rod Marinelli type of guys. All of them are being handed golden opportunities and all of them have their strengths.
Is this the coaching fraternity being nice to Rod or have the Lions actually made some good off season moves?
Time will tell. Good luck, Rod.
NFL Football special comment Rod needs these players to perform or he will be shown the exit door.
