Harrington is a lion no longer
It is now being widely reported that Joey Harrington has earned himself a one-way ticket out of Detroit.
You can hardly say this comes as a surprise, as they have just finished bringing in a completely new system with a new coaching staff and everything.
The fact that Mike Martz thinks he’s hopeless (otherwise he wouldn’t get rid of him) signifies that it neve was the system, or the players, or the coaching, or the fans. He was just an overhyped quarterback coming out of college.
He’ll wind up with a team. I guarantee it. The Bengals need a backup. I doubt they’ll go after him, but you never know. Lots of teams need backup quarterbacks. But I will tell you what this means: It means that he is not starting quarterback material. He’s just not good enough.
I’d be nervous buying something at walmart that I knew had been returned to the store. In the same way, teams are going to be wary of taking him knowing that he is damaged goods.
