Is Steve Smith’s Fantasy real ?
Fox Sports put out their Fantasy Draft list. The top 12 are all running backs.
Breaking up that run of running backs is wide receiver Steve Smith of Carolina.
Steve had over 100 receptions and over 1,500 yards with 12 TDs last year. A most incredible season.
Steve and Muhsin Muhammad (former Michigan State Spartan) share most of Carolina’s receiving records.
Muhsin has since left for Chicago after the 2004 season.
Passing to Steve will be number 17 Jake Delhomme. Jake
came into his own last year and made the pro bowl and notched 11 victories.
Even though Steve Smith is only 5′ 9″ tall, he has blazing speed and is very aggressive. Jake likes to throw to Steve even when he is in crowds. He also demonstrates excellent separation, often drawing double teams.
That would be enough, but he will be joined in 2006 by oft troubled Keyshawn Johnson.
Could this reduce Steve’s stats by sharing the ball with Keyshawn? Hmm, does Keyshawn share the ball with anyone? You have to believe it means less catches for Steve, no matter how you look at it. The question is, will that less still be a lot? Will it still make him a top fantasy choice in wide receivers?
Shout outs A shout out to Tracy Smith. All Lions fans are special!
