Jacksonville Jaguars and Byron Leftwich
The NFL.com has an article outlining the chances for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags were 12 and 4 last year with a pretty easy schedule. This year they have games with Dallas, Pittsburgh, Indy, and Washington just to open the season. That could be 4 losses right there.
The middle of the season is quite manageable. The Jags had better take care of business with games that they can win. They close the season with Miami, Indy, Tennessee, New England, and Kansas City. This is not the schedule that 12 and 4 seasons are made of.
At quarterback they feature Byron Leftwich. He is a big, strong quarterback, but not very fast. He throws the ball hard and can throw the long ball. According to the footballguys.com, it is the conservative scheme at Jacksonville that keeps Leftwich from being an elite qb.
A broken ankle in week 12 kept Leftwich from piling up the stats last year.
Special Note This is from the official Jacksonville Jaguar page from CBSsportsline.com.
Finished rookie season with 2,819 passing yards, fourth-highest total for a rookie quarterback in NFL history behind Peyton Manning (3,739), Chris Weinke (2,931) and Rick Mirer (2,833)
The defense is solid and the offensive line has added big Stockar McDougle (former Detroit Lion), but with a very tough schedule and conservative offense it is hard to see them going as far as last year. Your humble, known-to-be-wrong-before writer sees them missing the playoffs.
Fan Question Hey, whats the call on this Jacksonville team?
