Jon Kitna rides the back of a flying pig!
NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Jon Kitna on the sidelines after being knocked silly
Well, Sunday is over and most Lions fans have gotten used to seeing pigs flying everywhere.
Hey, didn’t that one have Jon Kitna on it’s back?
Yes, the unheard of has happened. Did the price of gas go down again? Well, a little, but that happens. Did my kids behave? Well, again, a little, but that happens too. Although you would swear the Saudis control both things.
What happened was the Lions won! No, really, they did.
Jon Kitna. If they did a movie about the game, then the Rock would have to play Jon Kitna.
“When I talk about toughness, I talk about one snap at a time,” Lions coach Rod Marinelli said.
No one could question Kitna’s toughness. He had to leave the game midway through the second quarter with a suspected concussion after throwing a 9-yard touchdown pass to Roy Williams for a 7-0 Lions lead. source
J.T. O’Sullivan took over at qb, in a game that had to break some kind of NFL record for futility.
Get this, there were 19 penalties, 6 fumbles, 7 punts, 7 interceptions, and 6 sacks. Both teams had to resort to backup quarterbacks at times during the game.
As if that was not pathetic enough, both kickers missed game winning field goals as time ran out. Both kickers, mind you.
Finally, the Lions started a drive in OT after a fumble and ended up having Jason Hanson kick the game winning field goal.
Jon Kitna was special. Jon came back in to rescue the Lions after a concussion had knocked him out of the game. He claims it was not a Willis Reed. (You younger fans will have to look up some New York Knicks NBA playoff history.) And in fairness to the legend of Willis Reed, it was not, but it did save the day!
He was knocked out of the game in the second quarter and didn’t appear as if he was going to come back in as he stood on the sideline without his helmet. But he did return, helping the Lions take another step toward backing up his expectation of at least 10 wins this season.
“I’ve seen a lot in this league, but that was special,” Lions coach Rod Marinelli said. “You saw toughness. This is a tough town and their football team has a leader that’s tough.” source
Detroit was held to 36 yards rushing, but had 384 yards passing, Roy Williams leading the way with 7 receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Coach Mike Martz was working his offensive play calling magic as he had Megatron (Calvin Johnson) take the ball on an end around for 7 yards and first down at a crucial time of the game. It was actually fun to watch the Lions.
Detroit held Adrian Peterson, the talented Viking rookie to 20 rushes for 66 yards.
What will happen next? Maybe the price of gas will go down for a third time and my kids behave perfectly? Nah.
But a Lions victory? That could happen again with Jon Kitna flying to the rescue!

Wow, 1st Place Lions 2-0. I do have a small complaint though. I had to do a rewrite on my post after the Lions won the game instead of lost like it appeared they would. detroitlions.contentquake.com

Wow, the 1st place Detroit Lions are 2-0 after winning a game that they would have lost in the past. I do have one small complaint though, I had to do some edits to my post when the Lions won instead of lost.

Do I believe in Jon Kitna. For a 8-8, 9-7 record yes, but I don’t think he can do much more than that.

8 wins should leave us dancing in the streets and maybe stuck with Millen for life.
