NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

Joseph Addai - Let the Fantasy Football begin

by James on April 17th, 2007

Joseph Addai will have you exploding to victory in your Fantasy league!

Joseph AddaiNFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Joseph, your stock is rising and it is time to cash in.

Everything should be going your way this season.

The only caution may be the sophomore jinx that afflicts so many second year players of great promise.

Fantasy Football is already on the horizon. Believe it or not, there are many of you out there that are already planning your picks.

The sad news is that you won’t be able to sneak up on anyone by trying to pick Joseph Addai.

As Michael Fabiano reports in NFL.com, the Joseph Addai sweepstakes has already begun.

Michael looks at the top improving Fantasy Football prospects.

1. Joseph Addai, RB, Indianapolis: The departure of Dominic Rhodes to Oakland will no doubt mean more carries and looks as a receiver out of the backfield for Addai, who should be closer to a featured back in his second pro season. A versatile athlete who will run behind an effective and veteran offensive line, Addai will be well worth a first- or second-round selection in all formats.

Number 2 is Lawrence Maroney, RB, New England. The Pats will be minus Corey Dillon and Lawrence will be facing a run easy schedule.

Maroney was an awesome Big Ten back at Minnesota.

NFL Football Lawrence Maroney factoid - how is this for a one two punch?

At the University of Minnesota, he split duties with current Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber III in 2003 and 2004 and then with Gary Russell in 2005. As such, he started only 14 of 36 games, but still became the first Golden Gopher and the third in Big Ten Conference history to rush for 1,000 yards in each of his first three seasons. source

Travis Henry moves over to Denver where they produce 1,000 yard runners like there is no tomorrow. He checks in at number 3 on the list.

Further down the list is Marc Bulger of St. Louis.

6. Marc Bulger, QB, St. Louis: The presence of Steven Jackson, Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce and the addition of Drew Bennett and Randy McMichael allows Bulger an immense offensive arsenal. Another reason to love Bulger for next season is the Rams’ schedule, which has the NFL’s easiest pass slate with contests versus Cincinnati, Atlanta, San Francisco (2), Dallas and Arizona (2).

(Squibster full disclosure - Marc Bulger was my backup quarterback for 2/3’s of the season)

At number 18, we find Damon Huard of Kansas City. Why KC did not play Huard in the playoffs over Trent Green is beyond your gallivanting author’s ability to figure out. Damon was on a roll at the time and Herman Edwards decided to stick with the veteran, just returned from being knocked unconscious, Trent Green.

18. Damon Huard, QB, Kansas City: Reports indicate the trade of Trent Green to Miami is now imminent — it could happen as soon as this week — so Huard will be the favorite to replace him as the Chiefs’ starter. Huard was solid in Green’s absence last season with 1,878 yards and 11 touchdowns in 10 contests (eight starts), so he could become a viable No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

The interesting part of the Trent Green to Miami trade is the rumor that Daunte Culpepper may be released. It seems the Green will go for about 7.2 mill or slightly less and Culpepper, fresh off another surgery, is at 5.5 mill. That is a lot of mill for a couple of QBs.

NFL Football Fan Question Have you even thought about who to draft in your next fantasy draft?
