Even LT can’t run from death
It is so much better during the regular season to read about touchdowns and victories. The off season brings the darker side of contract squabbles, retirements, and firings.
But even that does not compare to death.
We don’t really know what happens to us when we die. If our faith is strong it has provided us with some answers that have to be taken with…well, faith.
Some look it as a new beginning, only they are not sure what it is that is beginning. Some look at it as a return to God or spirit. Some think we just die.
Most of us have some fear of death and most of us mourn death. When you think about it, mourning death can be almost selfish. We even get down right angry that the person would go and die on us. In essence, it provides a cleansing of all the attachments to that soul and a release of our feelings.
This week we heard about LT’s father and step brother killed in a car crash near Waco, Texas.
We also heard about Damien Nash a Denver Bronco’s running back killed by cardiac arrest. That story is best chronicled at the B5 blog called A Hearty Life.
Sadly, Denver also had to deal with the driveby shooting of Darrent Williams just recently, as well.
Your gallivanting author used to watch his helpless Pistons get pummeled by a team of Boston Celtics made up of Larry Byrd, Big Chief Parrish, Danny Ainge, Kelvin McHale, and Dennis Johnson. Dennis, also, just passed away.
NBA Basketball Dennis Johnson factoid Larry Byrd used to joke that the Celtics were too ugly to get any women, except Danny Ainge. The 4 ugly ones would bend over to hide themselves when women fans came up to the bus, so the women would only see Danny!
Death has dominated the news recently to the point that a good old fashion contract squabble would be preferable.
