Larry Johnson has failed me
NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Larry needs more touchdowns!
You know we all have this habit and we learn it in high school physics.
Well, some of us learn this habit as a baby when we first sit up and Daddy rolls a brightly colored ball towards us.
What is the habit?
A body in motion tends to stay in motion.
Huh?
Think about it. When gas prices rise, then in your heads they are always going to rise. When stocks keep going up, you finally buy, because they are going to continue up. When your luck is really on a roll, you buy a lotto ticket, because you are going to win.
NFL Football Timeout for blatant advertising The Squibster will be penning a basketball blog called NBA Obsessed. It is scheduled to start officially on Oct 2nd, but you can get a taste of it right now. Don’t worry your gallivanting author will still be writing Squibkick. More details are coming!
The problem with this habit is that gas prices can go down (maybe), stocks will go down (especially after you have bought them), and that Lotto ticket is not a winner.
This explains Larry Johnson.
Huh?
Larry was on an unstoppable roll last year. Larry Johnson was a monster that no team could contain. He may not have scored all the TDs that LT had, but LJ just rolled up the yards and carries. (Squibster full disclosure - Larry was on my Fantasy Football Team last year and this year)
Larry could not be stopped. LJ was on an unstoppable roll.
This year paints a very different picture.
He’s averaging only 46.7 rushing yards with zero touchdowns in the first three contests. Last year, he averaged 112 rushing yards and 1.2 touchdowns per game.
The losses of All-Pros at left tackle in Willie Roaf and guard Will Shields in the past two seasons have left the offensive line a shell of its former self. source
Now before you completely write LJ off, consider that he was running against Houston, Chicago and Minnesota. One up and coming defense and two pretty darn good defenses.
Kansas City is now 31st in rushing. Thirty first!
There are a number of weaker teams against the rush showing up on KC’s schedule later in the year, but if you own Larry now and fall too far behind in your league, it may be too late.
He’ll have a chance for games of 100 rushing yards and multiple scores against Cincinnati in Week 6, Oakland in Weeks 7 and 12, Indianapolis in Week 11, Detroit in Week 16 and the Jets in Week 17. source
The QB, Damon Huard, is improving with each game experience, but may not reach a level this year where his passing can take the heat off of Larry’s running.
The Squibster is going to hold onto him unless offered a pretty good deal, but it is hard when Jamal Lewis has more Fantasy points playing for the Browns!
It is a strange year when LaMont Jordan of the Raiders has more rushing TDs than LaDainian Tomlinson, Stephen Jackson, and Larry Johnson combined!
Oh Larry, Larry, why have you forsaken me?
