Lions get a break and it is bad
NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Damien Woody is out for the season. It can’t get any worse, can it? Rumors have it that Marinelli himself may suit up to play right guard or maybe the rumor was that he needed to use more right guard, because the Lions organization just plain stinks?
Anyway, it looks like the right guard will be… Blaine Saipaia. Yes, the same Blaine Saipaia that let Pat Williams blow through untouched to cause Kitna to fumble late in the game against Minnesota, leading to a touchdown.
The left guard will be Rick DeMulling, who became a backup last year. The right tackle will be rookie Frank Davis.
The big news is Jeff Backus, signed for long term and just above average, is healthy at left tackle and Dominic Raiola, undersized center, is ready at center.
Without a solid line, the bruising Kevin Jones will not be able to run for many yards. Speaking of bruised, Roy Williams may not be able to go on Sunday either. It looked like Roy took a back of the forearm to the back of his head, snapping it forward and giving him a sore back and a stinger.
As usual, Marinelli shrugs it off with a “No Excuses, do your job” comment. This has been discussed earlier.
Buffalo is the kind of team a healthy Lions could beat, but with no offensive line and no Roy, that will be a difficult feat.
NFL Football Fan Question The ability to get O linemen in the middle of the season is pretty much nil, so you have to play with the cards that you are dealt. Can the players continue to be hopeful and come together in the face of adversity and defeat?
As Always, any comments on NFL Football or Ted the Jinx are welcome.
