NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

NFL, Cheerleaders, Marshall Faulk

Cheerleaders

Charger Girls As usual your intrepid writer goes beyond the call of duty and begins to investigate the cheerleader world in the NFL. Tryouts are grueling, they say. Especially for those that have to pick the cheerleaders. Now where was that major when yours truly went to college?

Charger girl Shantel Here you can see how tough these workouts are. The bending, the stretching, the contorting and that is just me trying to look at this photo.

In reality though, NFL Network is going to follow the San Diego cheerleaders on Mondays in July to watch the tryout process. Make sure you don’t miss it!

Marshall Faulk

Marshall Faulk On a more sad note, 13 year veteran running back, Marshall Faulk is going to miss the 2006 season. CBS Sportsline.com reports that he will have knee surgery.

Faulk, the 2000 MVP, was thinking of retiring during the off-season. He has still not made up his mind, but this may be it. His numbers had been declining for 4 straight years and he was the backup to Stephen Jackson last year.

Marshall had 7 pro bowls and is 9th on the career rushing list. He is truly one awesome back!

Fan Question If Marshall Faulk was set free would you want your team to sign this guy as a backup?

I’d sign him as a running backs coach without a second thought. He’s already shown his willingness to pass on the trade. The fact that he is still so close to his playing career will help, and the knee might never strong enough again to go on Sunday, he could certainly demonstrate on the practice field. Who knows; if the knee you can always make him a player/coach. Sounds like he has the attitude necessary to pull that dual-role off.

The great ones always have value. Just the fact that he has been to the Super Bowl is enough. That ring makes the young ones pay attention.

But Faulk has value AND attitude. Not every player can accept aging and the loss of physical ability. Faulk seems to have a healthy perspective on himself, and THAT is worth at much as his running skills.

Let us hope that you are right, Bald Man, because it is especially tough to come back from knee surgery at his age.

No only the rams. If he is not properly excepted by the rams Marshall will be retired.

Probably smart. Playing for the Lions could be dangerous to your legacy. :)

Kelly, what do you do for a living?

    I am a government agent.
May I ask why you would want to know about that.

Just curious. Count me as a government worker too. State of Michigan, Department of Technology. Work on a Data Warehouse for accounting, purchasing, and human resources.

One day hope to write a book on my son Nick. he has down syndrome and he is so cool in so many ways. That is why you find me blogging. To discipline myself to write and to get much much better.

    Kelly,
would you be interested in writing anything on Marshall to be put into Squibkick? It could be fun! There is no editor, but me. So it could be added verbatim. interested?

Could I write about what a great husband and father he is and has been since his injury and time off?

    Kelly,
yes, that is very important, don’t you think?
as a father myself, family first in everything.
besides it would be very interesting to see a sports hero in real life. Something that all of us wonder about.
