NFL Draft Round 1- Detroit Lions Select Ernie Sims
With the 9th overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft the Detroit Lions have selected Ernie Sims, LB, Florida State University.
Judging by how quickly the Lions picked, I’m guessing they’ve known for a while they were going to pick him. Normally I would think of this as a good thing, but the Lions downright suck at drafting, so I’m not so sure. Sims skipped the last year of college which means he’s not going to be as mature or as good a player as he could have been coming out, but he’s still pretty darn good.
On a side note, the Rams are now guaranteed to have either Leinhart or Cutler available, and both could go in the next two picks. Who ever thought Leinhart would last this long? The guy’s probably wishing he had come out early last year instead of losing the championship and then not being the first pick he could have been. It’s costing him millions.
Hopefully he enjoyed the dance class.
The Arizona Cardinals are on the clock.
