NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

NFL Fantasy Football ate my life

by James on July 13th, 2007

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

(John Wayne at USC) You Fantasy Football Geeks. Why don’t you get a life? We played real football!

John Wayne at USCThe modern world.

To get a little perspective you have to go way back in time to a very different age and a very different kind of football fan. First off there was no internet at all. In fact during the summer there would be weeks at the cabin with not even a television. There was no satellite and no cable.

Now before you start shouting back at me, and using the word geezer and stuff, try to think of how peaceful those times were. My football game was a board game with plays on cards, a roll of the dice, and a plastic laminated football field that you could draw on and wipe off with a paper towel.

One of the few diversions to bring you inside was a stack of comics from the Sunday paper that my grandfather meticulously saved up during the year. When they were done being read the comics were used to start the fire in the fireplace, as the whole family gathered around and told stories.

It is strange, we ate whole foods from the local farmers market, there were no fast food places, and fish from the lake. We played outside all day long. Nobody can ever remember being bored.

The modern world.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. Now we eat junk food and watch tivo’d shows and play video games and get fat.

And technology has turned us all into nerds and geeks. There is no longer footballs being thrown around in the yard, instead we have Fantasy Football. Yech!

But since your intrepid author is addicted to Fantasy Football we might as well make the best of it.

So do you rate LJ over Jackson? Brady over Manning? Is Big Ben worth anything?

Ahh, the modern world. Adapt and love it. Pass the Fritos!

NFL Football Fan Question Are you playing?

As always, any NFL Football related comments are welcome.

Yes, things have certainly changed during our lifetime. Its hard to fault our kids for their time spent on the internet, watching tv or playing video games when I realize that they learned all these habits from watching their parents do the same things. We all wish our kids could experience the joys of our youth, but the world is different now and it will be different for their kids someday. It’s strange though how much communitcation technology has improved yet it only serves to isolate us more from human contact and interaction with our fellow man.
