NFL Football - Detroit Lions - Tuesday Rant - 0 wins 2 losses
NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
The Detroit Lions did not play Mike Williams in the game against the Chicago Bears.
When Sarge Marinelli (sometimes referred to as Coach) was asked about it repeatedly, he finally admitted that Mike has not reached the standards set by the coaches. If anything Marinelli has been consistent in meting out justice to the players, naked coaches not withstanding.
Now this is where the NFL Football Detroit Lions rant will begin. If you are suicidal, depressed, on medication, or under the age of 35, now would be a good time to quit reading. Just relax and go sit down and think about Tiger baseball or something.
For the brave few that are left, here we go.
First, let me clear a couple of things up right now. There are no subliminal messages Lions are terrible in this blog. The Squibster greatest writer of all time does not believe in them. To use something like Lions are terrible that would be disreputable and Lions are terrible inexcusable.
Second, the use of hidden messages is absolutely forbidden. …
The Lions play the packers this week. PAckers UnabLe to fInd a pasSing game. DEfense Always gets it Done.
Somehow this rant is just not taking off. What can be the problem? Thinking, thinking, (Jimmy Neutron rent it). Hmm, no Super Bowls. None. Did not even lose one. Hmm, worst record in last 5 years. Hmm, absolutely stunk against the Bears last week. Hmm, no touchdowns all year. That is a lot of hmm’s.
Barry Sanders 1989 pick # 3
Maybe a look at the last 7 years of first round draft picks will cheer you up. 2000 pick # 20 Stockar McDougle, well he plays for the Jags and they just had that emotional victory against Pittsburgh. 2001 pick # 20 Jeff Backus pretty good tackle, signed to a long term contract. 2001 pick # 3 Joey Harrington plays for Miami. 2003 pick # 2 Charles Rogers could not stay off the stuff. Plays for nobody. 2004 pick # 30 Kevin Jones good rookie year, poor 2nd year, poor start to this year. 2004 pick # 7 Roy Williams stud receiver, but injured a lot and makes way too many guarantees. 2005 # 10 Mike Williams 6′5″ receiver with a bad alarm clock. Seemingly in Sarge Marinelli’s doghouse.
Ernie Sims Detroit Lions
Do not even get me started about 2006 pick Ernie Sims. He is a fine player, but we passed over Leinart and Cutler to get him. He has a history of concussions. He …hey, said don’t get me started.
You know what the problem is? It’s simple. Marinelli is doing it right. Yeah, they have not scored a touchdown, but will most likely solve that in a big way against the Packers. Marinelli is instituting a culture of toughness and aggressiveness. He has a nice mix of veteran leaders and young talent. He is putting up with no bull from anyone. This is NFL Football! They just got beat by two playoff teams. One was in the Super Bowl and the other has the best defense in all of football. There is no shame in those losses.
Hey, where did my rant go?
NFL Football Fan Question Is the progress the Lions are making enough for you or have you given up already?

We never give up on the Lions… at least they will undoubtedly break this year’s Motor City sports trend of dominating the first 97% of every major sporting season only to, well, Tigers?

Nick,
hard to believe the sad sack organization called the Tige’s is once again good and the Lie-downs still stink!
