NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

NFL Football - Pluto replaced by Fantasy Football World

by James on September 20th, 2006

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Big Tony

Tony Gonzalez google imagesWhile pondering the release of Tony Gonzalez of the Kansas City Chiefs from my fantasy football team, a lot of strange thoughts rolled through my head. Not that a lot of strange thoughts don’t always roll through my head, but this time they were related to football. (Squibster full disclosure - Tony was released, because the Chiefs have lost both tackles from last year and have Tony doing more blocking and less catching of the football)

You see the author (Squibster) who would be King (of Fantasy Football World) had to make a number of moves, because he plays Aaron the Technosailor. Aaron pens a good blog, but has not had any success at Fantasy Football this year. Maybe the fact that he has the entire Baltimore Football Organization on his team has something to do with it. The hotdog vendor from section 105 is starting at tight end for the Technosailor. Maybe he would trade me the whole state of Maryland for Carson Palmer.

Don’t tell Aaron, but… your intrepid author used to vacation in nearby Avalon, New Jersey for many a week in the summers of years gone by. One time my family took me to Baltimore by taking the ferry from Cape May. It was hot and sticky, just like Baltimore’s defense has been hot and sticky. Why their team success has not led to success for Aaron in fantasy football is one of the anomalies of fantasy football.

Planet Xena

Xena as Lucy Lawless askmen.comNow we all know the story of the demoted planet formerly known as the Planet Pluto. Pluto is named after the Greek God of the Underworld. It seems that someone discovered a 10th planet called Xena, which is the Greek word for stranger, but according to your intrepid author is named after Xena the Warrior Princess. Did you ever see the time Lucy sang the National Anthem and her top fell down and . . . . oh, ok, got my focus back, where was the squibster, uhh Pluto, yeah Pluto.

Not Pluto

Big Ben sport.espn.go.comNow a bunch of twinky star watching dudes got together and were upset about this Xena planet, so they decided on some new rules to qualify as a planet. Problem is the twinky star society, or whoever they are, ruled the planet Pluto not a planet anymore. This took care of Xena, also ruled not a planet, but leaves a void for the rest of us.

Well, not to fret, because the Squibster has taken over for the twinky star guys and named Fantasy Football World as the ninth planet and it orbits around Hi-Def TV. Coming to your house soon.

NFL Football Billy Volek factoid Billy was traded to San Diego for a 6th round pick. This will provide insurance if Phillip Rivers can’t get the job done.

Your gallivanting author also dropped the defense of San Diego in spite of two impressive performances. The problem is that those two victories came against the lowly Raiders and Titans. Now they have a bye and then face the Baltimore Technosailors err…Ravens. The Squibster thinks they may give up a bushel of Steve McNair touchdown passes as they face their first real NFL team.

NFL Football Fan Question Should Fantasy Football be the new 9th planet? What about the Fantasy Baseball guys crying in their beer for lack of recognition?

For those of you looking for some help with your offense the Patriots Laurence Maroney should be considered. He is currently the back #1B in a 3 back rotation. Dillon (1A) looked like he injured his shoulder last week but he is not on the injury list so it looks like he and Maroney will split the majority of the carries again. Maroney is the only bakc without any catches but it is not that Maroney can’t catch, he had some big gainers in preseason, but Kevin Faulk is an outstanding receiver and blocker so they use him in 3rd down and other obvious passing situations. Dillon wore down last year and it looks like he is healthy but I don’t think anyone expects him to make it through the whole season near 100%. Last year he played hurt most of the year so he can do it but they are trying to keep him healthy and bring Maroney along at the same time. If Dillon does get hurt they have a real alternative for 1st and 2nd down. Without Deon Branch and David Givens and with 4 viable tight ends the Pats look to be committed to a run first pass second offense that should mean all of the backs putting up some impressive numbers.

    Don,
this is music to my ears. Now to start Kevin Jones against the anemic Packers or Maroney against Denver?
