Note to pundits: the NFL doesn’t revolve around NE
How long will it take people to realize that the NFL doesn’t revolve around New England. Great, they won a couple Super Bowls. You could call them a dynasty. They were great. But having Tom Brady and Bill Belichick doesn’t make you invincible.
The Pats are not going to win every year, and they don’t deserve all the attention. I’m warning you now, but everything is still going to be about them. Half of all articles will be about them, with the other half going to the rest of the league.
Hint: The Steelers are now the team to beat, and the Seahawks are the team to watch. Indianapolis, Cincinnati, San Diego, and Carolina are all intriguing. People are sick of the Pats, and there’s nothing special about them any more. While they were winning Super Bowls and going for the third they mostly deserved the press, but not any more. They’re just another team looking to improve and compete next year.
To be honest, I expect a slide from them. A 10-6 season wouldn’t surprise me. Why? They aren’t going to improve. They’ll keep the same core group of players, and then add a guy or two. Well guess what, horrible play like last year’s isn’t going to win you the divsion again. Miami went 9-7, and they’ll be better. Losman is improved, and Buffalo will have some good young guys. New York is getting Chad Pennington back. They’re all gunning for the division. I actually expect the Pats not to win the division, and a repeat of this year’s playoff run is what’s to be expected.
They won’t win the Super Bowl, I guarantee it, and they don’t deserve any more print than anybody else.
