NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

Paris Hilton cost Matt Lienart millions

by James on March 2nd, 2007

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

In the annual buildup to the NFL draft, we find the happenings getting crazier every day as various General Managers try to prove their abilities.

Sadly what happens in a lot of cases is something called the combine flu. A player is timed a split second slower or stands an inch lower or weighs 10 pounds heavier and finds himself dropping on the draft boards.

Brady Quinn has caught the combine flu that… started with his matchup two months ago against JaMarcus Russell. Brady is projected to play somewhere in Australia if he drops any further in the draft.

The reason? Well, uhh, nobody really knows. It is just the in thing to do.

Matt Leinart

Last year Matt Leinart got an assist from Paris Hilton in dropping down the draft board.

But an NFL human-resource division is far more thorough. That’s why former USC quarterback Matt Leinart is working in Arizona and Andrew Walter was the Raiders’ starting quarterback last season. Through diligent background detection (which includes reading periodicals such as US magazine), it was learned that Leinart — who was suspected of being worth the first overall pick one year earlier — had been working out with Paris Hilton.

Leinart, his questionable off-field decision-making and his allegedly questionable arm strength slipped to the 10th overall pick, which was held by the Cardinals. This turned out to be a perfect fit because Arizona’s talented receivers really aren’t fast enough to outrun Leinart’s left arm. source

All Matt did was take over the starting quarterback job at Arizona.

Vince Young

Then there is the Wonderlic test, which is just as crazy as it sounds. It is a psychological test. Last year, Vince Young supposedly failed the test.

Hmm, does that make him crazy?

The Wonderlic is a standardized test that has been modified to accommodate prevailing issues facing the future NFL player. For example, the Wonderlic now includes questions such as “Which company produces the best 9mm handgun?” and “Can anything good happen after 2 a.m.?”

Young’s first stab at the Wonderlic reportedly was worth a score of 6 (out of 50), which suggested that among NFL citizens, Vince was only smarter than former Houston Texans GM Charlie Casserly. He was later given the test properly and got a 16 (the NFL denied the first score was accurate.)

All Vince did was begin his legend for bringing his team back to victory in the fourth quarter.

Hopefully Brady Quinn can get some draft antibiotics and move back up the ladder to the bigger dollars.

NFL Football Fan Question Are you a believer in the combine?

As always, any NFL Football related comments are welcome.

Every year some musclebound chisled cylon mutant on Human Growth Hormones will wow the collective NFL (potbellied 60 year old beer drinking)executives with his bicep size, his benchpress numbers, and 40 yeard timed speed and move up in the draft to cash in on one of the multi million dollar NFL signing bonus checks. It’s only when the season begins that the coaches of these teams realize they have been had and long for a guy that can really play the game….aka Chris Speilman (too slow), Drew Brees (too short) or Jeff Garcia (too ugly). Pretty boys with body builder physiques look good in the locker room but aren’t always the warriors on the field you want come NFL sunday. You want your soldiers to have a Klingon attitude with a Romulan wit about them. Never hurts to have a Borg or two on the roster as well.
