Peyton and the Colts vs. Raven Defense
NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Will Baltimore’s defense embarrass Peyton?
Time to look at one of the Saturday matchups, Baltimore Ravens vs. Indianapolis Colts.
Phillip B. Wilson, writing for the Indystar.com is picking the Ravens.
The Ravens, remember, are No. 1. In about every defensive category that matters. It’s not by accident. … the Colts can’t count on Addai to generate 122 more yards against a defense that held NFL MVP LaDainian Tomlinson to under 100 yards. That means this one falls more squarely on Manning’s shoulders, as far as scoring goes. Maybe this is his time to show critics he can overcome a great playoff challenge on the road. Maybe …the Colts put up a big number on a defense that limited 12 opponents to 17 points or fewer. Anything is possible. But, again, it doesn’t seem likely. source
What kind of local report is he? Predictions like that will get you run out of town! :)
Gregory Kane, writing for BaltimoreSun.com is still upset over the real Baltimore team, the Colts, leaving town.
Save it for those suckers who believe it, Jim. Folks may call us Balti-morons, but there are still plenty of us left who aren’t channeling Boo-Boo The Fool, which is what we’d have to be doing if we believed your nonsense. Do you really think we buy your claim that you had “empathy” for us poor Baltimoreans after your father took the team out of town in 1984? source
Steve McNair, the quarterback on the Ravens, is trying to figure out the Indy defense.
“The thing this team is all about is being patient,” said McNair, who has compiled a 2-5 record - including five consecutive losses - against the Colts. source
In fairness to Steve, those were not starts with the Baltimore Ravens.
The Ravens defense may be too strong for Peyton Manning.
Ray Lewis literally stood in the middle of the Baltimore Ravens’ record-setting defense in 2000. Now he’s the centerpiece of a unit that ranked No. 1 in the NFL this season.
No team in NFL history allowed fewer points over 16 games than the 2000 Ravens, who also set a league record by permitting only 970 yards rushing. The current defense, however, might be even better. source
Hmm, the Squibster still likes Peyton Manning and the Colts. What they did to KC was impressive, stopping Larry Johnson and all. Baltimore played too easy a schedule to convince me. Now if Baltimore should win handily then your intrepid author may become a believer.
NFL Football Fan Question Is Baltimore’s Defense better than Chicago’s defense? Would anyone score in a Raven vs. Bear game?
