NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

Peyton, Brett, and Tom go for the trifecta

by James on October 26th, 2007

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Peyton tells Tom his game is earlier, so the record is his first!

Peyton and TomSome will say that if you hang around the NFL long enough and play enough football on Sunday, then all kinds of awards, titles, records, and other assorted good things will come your way.

Now of course there is some truth to that, but a whole lot more is going on in this case.

Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, and Tom Brady, three for sure Hall of Fame quarterbacks, all with division leading teams have a chance to do something really special over the course of the next 2 weekends.

The Manning and Brady have a chance, if they each win their Sunday match up, to have beaten all 31 other teams, besides their own. Brett Favre will have to wait an extra week to face Kansas City.

“I think it’s better for a quarterback to do it than a coach,” said Tony Dungy, the league’s first coach to beat all 32 teams. “You only play those NFC teams once every four years, so that’s tough to do.” source

Now before we all go gaga over this, you have to remember there was not always this many teams, so none of your all time greats from yesteryear could have performed this feat.

The statistic can be a bit misleading since many ex-quarterbacks played in a league with fewer teams. The NFL expanded to 30 when Carolina and Jacksonville were added in 1995, went to 31 with the new Cleveland Browns in 1999 and eventually to 32 with Houston in 2002.

None the less, these 3 appear ready to pull it off and it is special, because it is a reminder of how lucky we are to be able to see these 3 quarterbacks playing in this era. Certainly they have to be classified in a list of the all time greats.

Brett Favre is 38 and this will probably be his only shot to pull it off, although he surprises us every year and comes back to play.

This brings up another point and that is how often these 3 quarterbacks do play.

Yet Manning, Brady and Favre have survived in this fickle environment where quarterbacks are constantly scrutinized and sometimes replaced because of injuries or slumps. Favre has started an NFL-record 243 consecutive regular-season games, while Manning is second at 150 and Brady’s streak is at 101. Those are the three longest active marks in the league.

Now if only we could have a game where the 3 of them face off against each other, but they would probably call that the Pro Bowl and nobody would watch it.

NFL Football Fan Question Out of the 3, which one is your favorite?

i think that Manning is the better quarter back because he has a more variety of receivers. plus he has better accuracy.

    1. Manning
    2. Farve
    3. Brady

Farve lacks the cognition of Manning. Manning Lacks
arm strength of Farve. Brady lacks class of Manning and Farve

Manning and Brady are awesome, but my fav is Favre, just for his little smile when he is playing. He makes it look so fun and yet a man’s man sport!

Favre is my fav. too, he’s a gun slinger, he’s playing a game, forget all of that check down and audible crap Peyton has done, Favre is real simple, he wants to throw it down the field to his receivers no trickery just straight heat

and he does bring the heat. Brett beats my Lions consistently and during the game just gets that smile that shows how much fun he is having. Hope he plays forever, but stops beating my Lions.
