Peyton in search of the Ring, must get past the Pats
NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Where is my Ring?
As this is being written, my prediction for a Saints victory is not looking good. The Bears are leading 9 - 0 with 5 minutes left in the half.
But fear not for your intrepid author will go out on a limb again to make another prediction. Please don’t bet any money on it, though.
The Squibster picks the Colts over the Patriots.
It would be a shame if Peyton never gets his ring. You do not want to be the Charles Barkley of the NFL.
Somehow they have to find a way to get past the Patriots. What is the magical hold… that the Patriots seem to have in the Playoffs? Is it Belichick the coach or Tom Brady the quarterback? The two of them are 12 - 1 in playoffs. That is right, 12 - 1 !!
Tony Dungy, Coach of the Indianapolis Colts seems to think that the Patriots are just a great team. There is no magic according to Tony.
Most of the pressure seems to be on Manning, who holds myriad passing records, including 49 touchdown passes in the 2004 season, but never has gotten to the Super Bowl and is 5-6 in playoff games.
That’s in stark contrast to Tom Brady of the Patriots, who has less gaudy passing stats but is 12-1 in the postseason. He owns three Super Bowl rings and two Super Bowl MVP awards for twice driving New England to the winning score on the final drive. Each time, the winning field goal was kicked by Adam Vinatieri, now a Colt. source
The game will be held at home for the Colts in the RCA dome, which is an indoor stadium. The Colts are 9 - 0 in the RCA Dome this year.
Unfortunately, Peyton is 2 - 6 against the Pats and Tom Brady.
Now stats will be stats and this equals that. In other words throw all that stuff out. This game is not just huge for the two teams, but huge for the Peyton Manning legacy. This is a quarterback that threw for over 40 touchdowns in a single season.
Peyton takes it personally and he should. In the scheme of NFL things, when you rank your all time quarterbacks, how can you put Peyton near the top when he does not have any Super Bowl rings? All the great ones have Super Bowls.
Peyton Manning has to get past the Patriots!

So much for Mr. Clutch. On the bright side, the Patriots have plenty of time to choreograph their next post-game victory celebration.

They make it through with the greatest comeback in Championship game history. What a game. I had faith in them the whole time, but they definitely kept my heart thumping! We’ll see you in Miami!

With all the Positive Press in my blogs, you would think it would make me Peyton’s press agent. Good thing they won.
hey BNPos, who to root for? Bears are in my Lion’s division, but my Mom grew up in Crawfordsville? Kind of want both teams to win. Can they do that? :)

Geoff, give it to me, the team that beat your Chargers loses. What does it feel like? Is it vindication or just another game?

I have to admit, it was pretty sweet — especially the way it happened, blowing a game that they had in their grasp. Weird to see Tom Brady not get bailed out for once. I am interested to hear what excuses will be made on his behalf.
As for the Super Bowl, I’d be okay with either team winning but I’d like to see Peyton Manning get a ring so people will stop ragging him about that.

It’s the battle on I-65. I liked Tony Dungy’s comment when he said that they should just play it in Ft. Wayne, halfway between Indy and Chicago. Vegas has got Colts as 6.5 point favorites and there’s never been a Superbowl upset with 2-weeks between games. It’s going to be a showdown!

Geoff & BNPos,
due to a little thing called cash, a diploma from Wabash was denied me. Although, my father and his father both have one. Does that make me a possible Colts fan?
But, geez, the Bears are from my Lion’s division and since the Lions aren’t too apt to win one, does that make me a Bears fan?
Help me out here.
