Randy Moss - Chemistry will be altered
NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Oh, no, you know you’re not bringing up the character issue. Not today, no sir, no way.
Do we as fans make too big a deal about Chemistry?
If we do then so do Coaches.
The recent World Champion Pistons used to talk about hanging together off the court. The big danger was that Rasheed Wallace was going to ruin the chemistry. He didn’t and they won.
Tom Izzo, the MSU Basketball Coach, stresses how important it is and how fragile it is.
Coach Rod Marinelli weeds out the bad chemistry guys claiming he likes guys of character.
So, yeah, chemistry matters. Still the New England Patriots had no problem adding Randy Moss to their team.
Moss never took advantage of his few opportunities with the Oakland Raiders and was dealt to the Patriots on Sunday for a fourth-round pick, No. 110 overall. source
There is the worst of Randy Moss.
It took him two years to become a pariah with the woeful Raiders. Less, actually, because the former All-Pro receiver in Minnesota even admitted he didn’t always go all-out as Oakland plummeted to 2-14, the worst record in the league.
Ok. Then why do teams take guys like Terrell Owens or Randy Moss?
Well, all kinds of reasons really, but it is mostly the lure of the talent. They are difference makers and it is hard to just let them play somewhere else. Let’s face it; if Moss plays up to anywhere near his potential then you can place New England in the favorite’s role for the next Super Bowl.
In other words, there is the best of Randy Moss.
Moss, who made five Pro Bowls in seven seasons with Minnesota, had 102 catches for 1,558 yards and 11 touchdowns with the Raiders.
Some organizations believe they can take a Moss or an Owens and then manage him. Other organizations, like Marinelli’s Lions, want nothing to do with a malcontent.
The word malcontent has fit Moss like a glove since he entered the league.
Make no mistake, Moss is a bad seed. He’s childish and selfish and totally deserving of frequent voicemails from Alec Baldwin. source
Will winning be the ultimate antidote for Randy Moss? Mike Vrabel of the Patriots thinks so.
Vrabel wasn’t worried about Moss’ bailing on his teammates, something that appeared to be in evidence particularly during the wide receiver’s final season with the Oakland Raiders.
He wasn’t concerned because of the losing atmosphere Moss was leaving, versus the winning environment he’s now joining.

Can Bill Belichick manage the storm cloud that seems to follow Randy Moss?
“I’ve had a lot of experience competing against Randy,” Belichick explained. “And also, from the people that I have talked to that have coached him and played with him, they all have a lot of respect for him. He is a very experienced, versatile, and dynamic player. He is competitive, wants to win, and has a great drive. I think he’ll be a very good addition to our football team.” source
Tune is this fall to see the Patriots hoisting a championship trophy or grumbling under their breath as they find a way to release Randy Moss.

Yea and Bill Parcell was able to handle Terrel Owens real well in Dallas too wasn’t he. By the end of the season he just wanted to go home and never coach football again. He was sick of the side circus surrounding Ownens every day from the start of training camp through the end of the season. Guys like Owens and Moss have the physical talent but they are too self centered and childish to handle their jobs in a professional way. They get way too much money and are not held accountable for their actions that disrupt the team. I wouldn’t want either one of them on my team. Patriots will find out what Dallas found out. You sell your soul to the Devil and their is a price to be paid.

Spoken like a true Marinelli disciple. May you also put me in your camp.

Football is a sport for Klingon warriors. You need a guy next to you in the trench’s that would fall on his Batliff for you and the team. Ownens and Moss are more concerned with whipping out their Sharpies for a Kodak Moment than putting themselves on the line in battle for a chance to go to Stovokor.

The Patriots are wheeling and dealing their way to stay near the top in the AFC.
But I have to agree about Moss. He quit when he played for the Vikes and he quit as a Raider. What that team did to Art Shell last year (yes, he was sabotaged by the front office too) was horrible. So we know about Moss and his achievements as a prima donna.
Do the Pats really need those headaches?
One thing Moss can’t do this time: blame the quarterback or the coach. How many rings do those guys have? And how many does Moss have? But is that fact alone enough to sublimate his ego? Not likely.

Gotta admit, though, the Pats are my early favorite to win it all!

I’m too chicken to make such a prediction so far out. But yes, they are putting all the chips on the table. I like that part.
I have a suspicion that all those felons on the Bengals will give the AFC a bit of a surprise this year. And the Chargers will be just as explosive under Norv Turner. So both the Pats and Colts will have plenty of competition.

Ahh, the Bengals. A fully healthy Carson Palmer could heat things up.

ha ha ha, You always wonder when a bad guy goes to the good guys. What will happen. Still it is only 1 game.
You will find me rooting for Moss, though.
Maybe at age 30 he finally grows up.

One can only hope he grows up. Just not this week. I’m hoping that the Chargers win the track meet.
I’m guessing, as long as the Pats are winning (spying or not) that Moss will be very happy. And obviously, he still knows how to turn on the jets when properly motivated.
