NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

Reggie Bush vs Laurence Maroney, Rhodes, Norwood, etc

by James on October 7th, 2006

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Rookie RBs transform the NFL

TransformersReggie Bush. Oh, it must be nice to be a New Orleans Saints fan. Reggie Bush, Drew Brees. Wow! It has to be fun. Deuce McAllister. The list goes on. And the excitement? Well, Reggie Bush and bringing back the ‘Dome on Monday Night TV. What a story. They are even playing great football.

You know Reggie was a number 2 pick. It is pretty much consensus now that he should have been the number 1 pick. Then again, were those in the consensus looking at the other backs drafted after him?

These guys are special… Laurence Maroney, Jerious Norwood, Joseph Addai, DeAngelo Williams, and Maurice Jones-Drew. Just who are these guys? They may be the biggest group of no name future star potential rookie running backs to come along in a long time. Each team that has one of these players will argue that their rookie is the best.

So far, we can tell Reggie Bush will be something special both on and off the field. He runs, catches passes, and returns punts and does it with flair! Then again he is averaging only 3.3 yards per carry.

Make sure you look at some of these other backs.

Don from Boston has told us about Maroney and how excited they are about him in New England, especially with Cory Dillon’s history of injuries. He is averaging 4.9 yards per carry and has 3 touchdowns (Squibster full disclosure - on Don from Boston’s advice, Maroney was on my Fantasy Team, but had to be cut while wheeling and dealing, ouch!)

Addai replaces James in Indy

Joseph Addai Addai is teaming with Dominic Rhodes to make us forget how great Edgerrin James was for the Colts. (Remember we thought Indy would struggle without him) Oh, and by the way, how is James doing with that pitiful Arizona offensive line? (Your intrepid author looked it up - 3.1 yards per carry, welcome to the lower echelon of the NFL). Joseph Addai is averaging 4.5 yards per carry and has racked up 207 yards while sharing the backfield!

Jerius Norwood. Huh? Who is Jersey Norsewood? No, Jerius. Jerius Norwood. He has helped bring back the Atlanta Vicks…err Falcons to respectability. Remember they sent Duckett out the door, told him they did not need him anymore. They said that because of a 3rd round pick from Mississippi State called Jerious. Now he is averaging 8.3 yards per carry including a 107 yard effort last week against Arizona.

NFL Football Fan Question Did your team get a new rookie back? Tell me about him.
