Roy Williams has big mitts

Can a week go by without your intrepid author going on a Lions rant? No it can not!

So let’s get right to it.

Shaun’s and Roger’s

Whether it is Charles Rogers, Shaun Rogers, Daryl Rogers, Shaun Cody or any combination of Rogers’ or Shauns’ it makes no difference. None of them are helping the team today.

The latest was Shaun Rogers, who while on suspension had minor knee surgery, only now the knee keeps swelling every time he tries to practice. He may be stamped IR and done for the year.

Move to the Williams

So in true revolving fashion the Lions move on to the Williams. Roy Williams is having a great year. He is already over a 1000 yards. His mouth is having a better year and is already over 2000 yards.

Oddly, Roy has very few touchdowns this year, only 4 of them. His mouth wants to score more, though.

Mike Williams? Will they just tell us the truth! He is big, fast, great hands, highly ranked, doing everything they ask and sitting the pine most of the time. What gives?

The Lions played Josh McCowen at wide receiver and he caught more balls last Sunday than Mike Williams. In case you don’t know, Josh is the backup quarterback.

NFL Football Rob Bironas factoid Rob kicked a 60 yard field goal for Tennessee to beat Indy 20 to 17. It was only the 6th kicker to kick on for 60 yards or longer. He is only in his second year. What do you do for an encore?

Jon Kitna and other QBs

Hey, big news, read all about it. Quarterback controversy. Jon Kitna is playing so bad that he will be replaced by…well, no one. How can they. The backup is playing receiver, remember. So Coach Rod Marinelli announces Jon is still his quarterback!

Actually Jon is having a great year considering nobody on the offensive line will be playing for the Lions next year. What??? Oh, sorry, your gallivanting author forgot he is not the general manager; instead they have someone with less experience at that position, Matt Millen. It least the Squibster has managed a Fantasy Football team to several victories.

And how bad must it hurt to see former Lions quarterbacks Joey Harrington, Charlie Batch, and Jeff Garcia doing well in backup roles turn starter.

Kevin Jones and Ernie Sims

Kevin Jones is back and in the Mike Martz offense is the featured player. Kevin has over 1000 combined yards on the season. So, of course, the talk goes to Mike Martz leaving to be a head coach somewhere.

Ernie Sims is one of the bright spots on Defense. Ernie has over 100 tackles plus assists on the year. Pretty impressive for a rookie.
