NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

Roy Williams will play Sunday for the Lions

by James on October 15th, 2006

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Roy is ready to go

Roy WilliamsRoy Williams had a few days off for personal reasons, but is back and should be ready for Sundays game against Buffalo. Roy had a stinger on the first pass play last week and left the game and did not return. He also complained of pain in the lower back. (Squibster full disclosure - Roy is starting for my Fantasy Football Team)

Rookie Devale Ellis was called up from the practice squad. He has great speed and Marinelli wants to get a look at him. This probably means that Mike Williams… will not even dress for the game. Mike is even behind the other rookie, Shaun Bodiford.

NFL Football Devale Ellis factoid Devale had over 1 thousand receiving yards for Hofstra in 2004.

My best friend, RonB, says that it is Marinelli showing some tough love, just like he did to Warren Sapp and Simeon Rice on Tampa Bay’s team. It made both of them highly motivated as they began to realize how special the opportunity for playing time can be.

When your gallivanting author coached basketball, often the only motivating tool in the bag was playing time. This is something that makes every player pays attention. Nobody wants to be sitting when the talent, skills, and good health are there.

Mike might sit on Sunday

Mike Williams Mike Williams was lackadaisical about his talents and habits in college; and has been the same in the pro’s. The difference now is that Marinelli thinks he can change that attitude.

Roy has been a big verbal supporter of Mike Williams. Maybe it is time that Mike emulated the work ethic of Roy. Anyway, it is getting late in the game, and Mike needs to make Roy proud and impress Marinelli soon or he will be gone. If they release him, he will be damaged goods.

NFL Football Fan Question Marinelli is doing all he can, but will not make it easy for Mike. Can someone of his character respond to this kind of treatment in a positive way? If he does respond, will the Lions offense take a step up with Mike in the lineup?

Go Tigers!

As always, any NFL related comment is welcome.
