Seattle Seahawks open a new Branch
NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
The Seahawks traded an alleged first round pick in next years draft for Deion Branch of the New England Patriots. This is a significant deal in a number of ways. Oh no, not a Let me Count the Ways!?!
First Deion got his way. Geez, how your intrepid author sometimes yearns for the old days and the old ways where player movement was something originated by the Teams and not the Players. Deion won his grievance.
Shout Out A big Shout Out to Brad Marshall at Brad’s Hair Studio in Grand Ledge. It is the coolest place to get a haircut, because Brad makes it that way! (Not to mention the large screen TV) sidenote: Studying is good. Partying is bad. :)
Second, Seattle picks up another quality receiver, which if you saw them play the Lions, you could tell they need another quality receiver, with Darrell Jackson injured. (Squibster full disclosure Darrell Jackson is on my Fantasy Football Team)
Shout Out A big Shout Out to Flyin’ Nick Young, because he always gets me laughing. By the way, Nick, do you have your Seahawk fur helmet yet?
Third, who the heck is Tom Brady supposed to throw the ball to? New England is just salivating at the thought of another title. Don from Boston tells me they are worried about the lack of receivers. The squibster is worried that Brady will become another Brett Favre and have to play half his career without a great receiver. Yes, your intrepid author sometimes worries about ex-UM players. It is a strange world, right Ted?
Fourth, New England gets a first round pick, which being Seattle, might not seem like it will be a very high pick, but if you throw in New England’s pick, then you have the ability to move up in the draft. Of course, Deion Branch was the MVP of Super Bowl XXXIX with a Super Bowl game tying record of 11 receptions and it would be tough to move up far enough in the draft to replace that kind of production.
Fifth, if you have Branch on your Fantasy Football team, you can look for more production with Branch in a Seattle uniform. Hey, wonder if anybody in my league has picked him up yet. Oh no, now Technosailor will read this and take him. Aaron, if they read your great blog, will you leave Branch alone?
NFL Football Fan Question Do you agree with the Branch decision? Will Seattle, last years highest scoring team, get any better?

Good news! Makes me feel better about drafting him in my league… and NOT dropping him before the weekend!

Hey, how about recommending a DEF. only got 5 points out of Miami?
Did not pick up Branch, too late at night, already made way too many moves.
must get some sleep.

Branch has already been scooped. Oh well. You want TWO defenses, James. One day, your primary defense is going to have a BYE and you don’t want to have to be stuck playing a position that will guarantee you ZERO points.

I’m sorry but that Seahawk fur helmet looks totally goofy!! It also looks more like a Dolphin than a Seahawk.

Aaron,
the thought of two defenses came to my mind like a horror, right after the draft. Somehow, there was Ruben Droughns as an unneeded RB and no backup DEF. Now it turns out Ruben is on the No Cut List! Ouch.

Ted,
just send the helmet back to me and it will be returned. :)
