Shaun Alexander runs for 201 yards

Now you are the GM of Seattle and it is Monday night football. It is one of the biggest stages, with the game on HD on ESPN. You get Green Bay with probably Brett Favre’s last game as a QB.

You are thanking the NFL Schedule gods, because the game is in Seattle in late November and not in Green Bay.

You are feeling lucky, because Shaun Alexander and… Matt Hasselbeck are both healthy enough to play and you need to win this game.

You are coming off of a loss to San Francisco and have to visit Denver next week. The Seahawks are sitting on a one game lead before this game over both San Francisco and St. Louis.

Cold in Seattle

Then it gets cold, unseasonably cold for Seattle, and it snows, lots of snow, it blankets the field. Your runner is coming off of a broken foot. Your quarterback is coming off of a sprained knee.

You, as the GM of Seattle, look on in horror, because your two stars, Shaun Alexander and Matt Hasselbeck, have to play in cleats, not cross country skis. The players and the ball are slipping all over the place. You’re not only praying for victory, but please, please, do not let Shaun and Matt get hurt slipping on the slippery field.

Turns out they don’t and you’re a great GM and Seattle wins 34 - 24 over Green Bay.

Ahh, life is good as the GM. First place. Healthy stars. Victory on Monday Night Football. You can even relish in the fact that your coach used to coach Brett Favre and that makes for a great human interest story and more publicity for your team. Good Job!

Special NFL Announcement Jay Cutler will start for the Bronco’s this Sunday. Jake Plummer is struggling.

The stat monsters were out on Monday Night Football. Seattle had some kind of defensive first quarter string going on Monday nights and Green Bay had some kind of non scoring 1st quarter thing going on. Whatever they were, they ended and the two guys at Elias Sports Bureau drank a beer and it is done with.

Also it was the 4th highest run total on Monday night with Shaun Alexander’s 201 yard game. It was the second 200+ yard game in his career.

Shaun is the Star

Matt Hasselbeck looked more comfortable as the game wore on, but Shaun Alexander was the star. At times it looked like he was trying to be careful running on the snow and at times he just looked dominating with power and cut back runs that looked so familiar.

NFL Football Fan Question Seattle was 2 and 0 with its stars out. Can the Seahawks win it all this year with its stars back and playing hard?
