Shaun Rogers, Big Baby won’t be charged
Shuan Rogers is still standing
Shaun Rogers is a very talented big guy. Shaun can rush the quarterback and stuff the run and sometimes looks bigger than my house. Granted, the squibster makes a few less semolians than Shaun and has a comparably smaller house, but none the less, Shaun demonstrates speed and strength and size like few NFL football players.
Last month a topless dancer made some sexual allegations about Rogers.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy said they reveiwed the evidence and there is not enough to file charges, which is not exactly like saying Shaun did not do anything.
Check out the carefully worded statement by Big Baby’s agent.
“It’s agonizing to have your name associated with something of this magnitude,” said Rogers’ agent, Kennard McGuire. “Obviously Shaun and his family are very relieved by the decision the officials have made. … We’re just fortunate that people can continue to move on and go in the proper direction with their lives.” source
Before we go all crazy here, Shaun was not facing charges of high treason.
A 20-year-old female said in a police report that Rogers had touched her breast and groin area at 1:15 a.m. June 8. The female, who is employed as a topless dancer, said the incident occurred in the dressing room where she was changing at Loose Ends Players Den in Detroit.
The Lions and the female declined comment.
That is probably it then, right?
No. Shaun is on thin ice with the Lions. Rod Marinelli expects certain things from every player. Mostly Coach Marinelli wants you to live, eat, and breathe football. This is an area that Big Baby struggles.
Maybe it has been all too easy for Shaun, who knows.
But don’t think for a minute that Marinelli is not seeing this incident has a step backward for Shaun.
Squbster will refrain from going into a diatribe on the sins of alchohol and hanging out at certain places, as there were a few wild oats sown in my own precious youth, and all in innocence, it might be added, but Rogers has to be a little more careful than your intrepid author.
Shaun is not only in the Public Eye, making millions of dollars, and having many people count on him, he also has the watchful eye of Marinelli staring at him.
So it is a small incident, but one more self imposed obstacle in Shaun Rogers path towards becoming a truly great NFL player.
Which begs the question, does Big Baby have the toughness and desire to become a truly great NFL player?
Marinelli keeps publicly reminding us that Shaun does. Time will tell.

It was just a few hours after mini-camp had ended and Marinelli had given the players a talk about staying out of trouble off the field. Rogers was hanging out at a strip club, drinking, carrying a gun and accused by a stripper of groping her in a dressing room. There is always a double standard in the sports world. If Shaun didn’t have the big contract and the on the field ablility the Lions would have released or traded him.
