NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

Steelers leave Ravens feeling helpless

by James on November 6th, 2007

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Heinz FieldTowards the end of the game, the announcers showed Pittsburgh’s stadium and all of its bright yellow seats with no fans in them and remarked “All you can see is a sea of mustard in a house built by ketchup”.

That of course is in reference to the Heinz ownership of the club.

Steelers won 38 - 7.

But more indicative was the fact that the Steelers were so far in front on this rainy night and the Ravens looked so helpless that all of the Steeler fans went home.

The announcers kept making references to possible Baltimore offensive records for least this and least that.

The Pittsburgh fans were treated to a lot of the old time Steeler greats showing up at the game to watch one of the current Steeler greats.

Hall of Famers galore lined the Steelers’ sideline, with Terry Bradshaw and Mean Joe Greene, Jack Ham, Mel Blount and Franco Harris out front. No wonder the Baltimore Ravens probably thought they were playing all of them and the current day Steelers, too.

Ben Roethlisberger tied the Steelers’ single-game record with five touchdown passes in the first half and Pittsburgh put on a Steel Curtain-like defensive show by forcing four turnovers before halftime in a 38-7 victory over Baltimore on Monday night. source

James Harrison from Kent State had a career game and was seemingly in every highlight after the game.

Harrison, a one-time non-drafted free agent who became a starter after former Pro Bowl linebacker Joey Porter was released during the offseason, seemed to torment Ravens quarterback Steve McNair on nearly every down. Harrison had two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and interception and 2 1/2 sacks before halftime in a Jack Lambert-like performance. Lambert, coincidentally, was one of the few members of the Steelers’ 75th anniversary all-time team who didn’t attend.

Big Ben, having one of his best seasons, was hurt in the game, but came back to play in the 4th.

Roethlisberger, still in the game with the Steelers holding a 28-point lead, was pushed to the turf by Terrell Suggs on a 45-yard completion to Holmes in the third quarter, but returned early in the fourth quarter after having his right hip examined. He finished 13-of-16 for 209 yards and his five TD throws gave him a career-record 20 in half a season, two more than his previous single-season high of 18.

So where were the Ravens and what has happened to them? They are 4 - 4 and facing an increasingly difficult schedule.

Pittsburgh, on the other hand, has it rolling with Big Ben playing well and the defense all over the field. They are 6 - 2, first in the AFC North, with a comparatively easy schedule for the rest of the season.

NFL Football Fan Question Did you use Heinz ketchup during this game?
