Tiki Barber says to hold on there, it may be playoff time
As hard as it is to believe, the New York Giants, losers of 6 out of their last 7, may still make the playoffs with a victory over the Washington Redskins, themselves losers of 5 out of their last 8.
This would be great for Tiki Barber, thus extending his career for possibly a few more games.
Perhaps the luckiest of the possible Wild Card berths is… the New York Jets. They can put themselves in the Playoffs with a victory over the hapless Oakland Hair braiders. The Jets could lose and still make it with odd combinations of losses from other teams.
The NFL throws in a Strength of Victory and Strength of Schedule into its witch’s brew of a playoff formula. It can get really complicated.
There are even possibilities for the Carolina Panthers, whose season ended multiple times during the year.
Carolina can clinch a playoff berth with:
1) A win and N.Y. Giants and Green Bay both lose or tie.
2) A tie, N.Y. Giants and Green Bay lose and St. Louis and Atlanta both lose or tie. source
Carolina could make the playoffs with Steve Smith only scoring 6 touchdowns!
Even the good teams have things to play for. Baltimore is looking for home field advantage over San Diego and Indy is looking for a 1st round bye.
We will have to sort it all out after this weekends ball games.
NFL Football Fan Question Why is it we enjoy having our team make the playoffs as a wild card with a less than stellar record, but we do not want another team to make the Super Bowl with a less than stellar record? Would you be happy if the Giants made the Super Bowl?
