Tom Brady missing is not the only Patriot problem or is it?
NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Matt Cassel tries to fill the void left by Tom Brady
The Patriots were seemingly invincible last year. Did you know that there were times the Patriots went for it on fourth and short with big leads just to practice certain plays. They did not kick the field goal, because they did not need it. How is that for feeling your oats?
But let’s go from the oat field to the Moss on the tree. Randy Moss was beating the unbeatable Jerry Rice touchdown record for receivers last year and this year Matt Cassell can’t even seem to find Randy anywhere on the gridiron.
The Giants blew up the Patriot offensive line in the Super Bowl, but face facts, the Giants blew up everyone’s O line on the way to the NFL Championship trophy. Now the Patriots must still be seeing those Giants pouring through the line, because they can’t stop anyone.
And the offensive line — manhandled in Super Bowl XLII and pushed back in the AFC title game — has already allowed nine sacks in three weeks after giving up just 21 during all of the 2007 regular season.

So Tom Brady is not throwing the football.
Randy Moss is not catching the football.
Even Laurence Maroney is hurt and not running the football.
The offensive line is like a bad hockey goalie (sieve).
Now the defense even allowed Miami 461 yards. (Yeah, those Dolphins gained all those yards.)
The common wisdom would say the Patriots have problems all over the place, but do they really?
Tom Brady, hmm, what would it be like if just Tom came back?
Ok, Tom Brady would be passing the football and Randy Moss would be catching a whole lot of those passes. It would not do anything about healing Maroney up, but the Patriot running attack works because you have to defend Brady.
Tom makes quick decisions and can throw the accurate short ball. Oddly most QBs cannot throw the short one accurate. That ability to escape and still make the throw would improve the offensive line tremendously.
As for the defense giving up tons of yards, if Tom can get the offense moving and give the Patriots field position, then the defense would give up fewer yards.
Hey, we solved everything.
Wait a minute, that was the Dolphins that gained all those yards right? That was the Dolphins delivering that beat down on the Patriots. Weren’t they 1 - 15 last year?
Didn’t the Squibster tell you? The Patriots have all kinds of problems.
