Tom Brady punches like a girl
The Patriots were the off season pick of your intrepid author. Even though they have already won their share in recent times and it would be great to see another team pull it off.
The moves the Patriots made in the off season picking up Adalius Thomas, Wes Welker, Randy Moss, and Donte Stallworth are huge moves equating to a talent base equal to my entire Detroit Lions squad. Well, maybe not bigger than Shaun Rogers after pizza night, but still…
True to form, Tom Brady has been the best quarterback in the NFL this year. Brady has a 74% completion ratio.
How good is a 74% completion ratio? One unnamed quarterback on the Jim Rome show said 74% is hard to do when you are just throwing the ball in a street ball game.
Tom is also 3rd in the league in passing yards with 1,383 yards.
Tom Brady is passing to Randy Moss, who is leading the league with 551 yards. This is a new rejuvenated Randy Moss, comfortable in his role on the league leading Patriots.
On the other side of the ball is an all-of-the-sudden-struggling Tony Romo. His game against Buffalo with 6 turnovers was remarkable only in that the Cowboys won that game.
Tony may not have Brady’s skills, but he does seem unflappable.
But the great thing about Romo is that he seemingly doesn’t allow adversity to affect his next play. Despite his reckless performance for more than three quarters, Romo was great in the clutch, driving the Cowboys to the potential go-ahead points before T.O. had a two-point catch ripped from his arms. Then after Folk’s best kick — a perfect on-sides’ topper that the Cowboys recovered — Romo completed two passes without benefit of a timeout in order to put Folk in field-goal range. source
To accompany Tony Romo in his quest for victory over the greatness of the Patriots and to return the trophy of America’s team back to the mantle of the Dallas Cowboys is Terrell Owens. Everyone’s favorite receiver to not like and marvel at all built into one.
This week TO greets us with the Note.
In place of the usually talkative receiver, reporters found at Owens’ locker Wednesday a nearly poster-sized, typewritten note:
“Dear Reporters,
“Due to the magnitude of this week’s game and high volume of questions for the Original 81 about the other 81. I will be taking all questions immediately following Sunday’s game.
“Sincerely, (followed by Owens’ signature)
“p.s. Getcha Popcorn Ready.” source
The other 81 is a reference to Randy Moss and the “popcorn ready” is reference to his speech upon signing with the Cowboys in 2006. Terrell Owens has 21 catches, 387 yards, 3 TDs.
Check out these career comparisons:
Randy Moss vs. Terrell Owens
10 Seasons 12
710 Receptions 822
11,251 Yards 12,102
15.8 Yards per catch 14.7
108 TDs 117
82 Longest reception 91
505 First downs 574
2,808 Yards after catch 4,596
0 Super Bowls 1
You can bet Randy wants that last stat: Super Bowls 1
This will be a huge game, even though it is early in the season.
Tom Brady or Tony Romo?
Randy Moss or Terrell Owens?
NFL Football Fan Question Will there be a surprise player that makes the difference?
