NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

Trent Green will be a Dolphin

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Trent Green looking for Chiefs receivers and finding the Dolphins

Trent GreenWe all knew it would happen and now it has.

Trent Green was traded to the Miami Dolphins.

Last year we watched as Culpepper tried to be qb in Miami, then Lemon and Harrington tried, but nothing seemed to work.

Things were so bad that Cleo Lemon ended up with the highest QB rating at 77.6.

Ok, so you tell me, are the Dolphins going to sit there and claim Cleo Lemon is going to lead them to the Promised Land?

We discussed this a few days ago, considering that Duante Culpepper may not be able to come back or be full strength if he does, just what were the Dolphins to do?

The Miami Dolphins have agreed to trade a fifth-round pick in the 2008 draft — which could become a fourth-rounder depending on how much action Green sees for Miami in 2007 — in exchange for the veteran quarterback, FOXSports.com has learned. source

In a Cat and Mouse game with Kansas City, the deal finally went through for the Dolphins.

The Dolphins could have ended the protracted negotiations long before Tuesday, but had held out in the belief that the Chiefs would eventually cut Green.

The long-discussed deal finally got done when Chiefs brass informed the Dolphins a trade had to get done by today or else they would have kept Green on their roster for the 2007 season.

There are a lot of doubts about Green’s ability to produce at a high level.

The Dolphins have two solid wide receivers with Chris Chambers and Marty Booker, but lost quality receivers in No. 3 wideout Wes Welker and tight end Randy McMichael to free agency. No. 1 draft pick Ted Ginn, Jr. isn’t expected to contribute significantly as a wideout in his first season.

In addition, Green turns 37 in July and is an injury-risk with his mobility. He missed half of last season with a head injury.

It’s unlikely Green will approach his career highs of 4,591 yards set in 2004 and his personal best of 26 touchdowns compiled in ‘02. source
