NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

Troy Vincent forgot his phone number

by James on July 6th, 2007

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

The NFL is on the rampage. Never before in our lifetimes has so much change come to the league before. Ok, there was that AFL thing and it was pretty huge.

First the league decides to kick out all kinds of players for silly little things like attempted murder and steroid use and now they want them to report concussions.

Troy Vincent recalls going back to the huddle and forgetting to look at the sideline for the play, even though it was his job to relay the signal.

He mentions the days after one concussion when he couldn’t remember phone numbers and kept thinking his car was running. When he sees clips of himself knocked unconscious, he cringes.

“I’m not sure if we — athletes — know what a concussion is,” said Vincent, a veteran defensive back and the president of the NFL Players Association. source

Let it be known that twice in the extended Squibster’s life has he delivered the concussion and walked away with nothing but a sore head. Now you know that having a lot of brains may not be as important as having a thick skull.

Concussions are serious business and the NFL knows that they can probably not prevent them and would now like to put in place a program of awareness to help the players.

You can even anonymously rat out a doctor that is pressured to put a player back in. Why would the NFL even care? They allow there elder retire-ees to live on very little money, poor health insurance, with bodies generally falling apart. Why care about this?

The heightened awareness comes amid studies indicating that players who suffered multiple concussions might be susceptible to neurological disorders later in life. And it comes amid reports suggesting brain damage may have been a factor in the deaths of former Philadelphia Eagles safety Andre Waters and former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive linemen Mike Webster, Terry Long and Justin Strzelczyk in recent years.

Oh, it is clear now, there is definitely bad press and lawsuit written all over those deaths. Still maybe we ought to think that the NFL just cares!

NFL Football Fan Question Do you care about the concussion policy?
