NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

Vince Young just wins with the Offensive Player of the Week award!

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Vince Young runs for another TD

Vince Young (AP Photo/David Duprey) This is the year of the fabulous rookie crop, but none may be better at winning than Vince Young.

Vince did it again against Buffalo. Why do we continue to be awed by this guy and yet not believe in him?

There is still time to get on the Vince Young bandwagon.

Vince Young just won the Offensive Player of the Week Award!

Last year after the big college game for the National Championship, after Texas had stolen the game from USC, after Vince Young made… the game winning play, after Vince Young had an awesome performance, we watched as Reggie Bush was coronated with the Heisman and Matt Leinart was all the talk as the next great NFL Quarterback to be.

Then the draft came and the Houston Texans inexplicably passed on Reggie Bush, which was surprising enough, but they did not even consider Vince Young. Huh?

The Texans even admitted they did not want Vince Young.

Frankly my dear, we don’t give a darn

Darth VaderVince was hurt, but did not cry over it. Some people can not see the winning. They just look for style points. It was almost like movie critics panning the latest Star Wars movie, because it was not like Gone with the Wind, then a bazillion people go to the movie and love it.

There may not be a bazillion people in Tennessee, but Vince just might make every one of them a Vince Young Titans fan. He has already made the Titans winners!

Great Rookies Abound

The Vince Young story is not the only great rookie story in the NFL. Just look at some of the players from last year’s draft out there. Matt Leinart, now starting quarterback at Arizona. Jay Cutler, now starting quarterback at Denver.

Then there is Maurice Jones-Drew with a combination of 15 touchdowns rushing, receiving, and kick returning.

Marques Colston with over 1000 yards receiving and 8 touchdowns helping Drew Brees turn the Aints into the Saints.’

Playing along side of Colston is Reggie Bush, who electrified the crowds and definitely deserved all the hype he got.

The defensive side of the ball has A.J. Hawk, Tamba Hali, DeMeco Ryans, and others. Oh, and don’t forget one of the few bright spots for my lowly Lions, Ernie Sims.

If that is not enough, check out the record setting Devin Hester with 5 kick return touchdowns. How is that even possible?

This will go down as one of the all time years for excellent rookies, but none may be better at winning than Vince Young!

NFL Football Fan Question Can you admit that it is just pure fun to watch some of these rookies play? Your intrepid author has really enjoyed watching Ernie Sims. How about you? Who is your favorite rookie?

As always, any NFL Football related comments are welcome.
