NFL Football Revealed on Squib Kick

Vince Young - The night is Young

by James on September 25th, 2007

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Will Vince Young make the leap to stardom?

Vince Young

The final score told the story.

It was Tennessee 31 - New Orleans 14.

Vince Young is for real.

NFL Vince Young factoid Vince is 10 - 4 in his last 14 games.

Sure his stats do not reflect dominance as he was only 14 for 22 164 yards and 2 TD passes, but it was the way he seemed to control the game with a presence.

Steve Young, a pretty good qb in his day, said that Vince is bigger, faster, and more accurate than he thought. Steve also talked about the way Vince held himself, that it made you just want to play for him.

Vince appears on his way to greatness.

But what about Reggie?

Deuce McAllister got hurt and left for x-rays, so Reggie had plenty of playing time. Unfortunately the running game was not there for New Orleans as they played from behind all day and Drew Brees was miserable.

Reggie did have 2 TDs, though. Right before the first one, Reggie dropped a short td pass from Drew, but came back with his first td run of the night.

Drew kind of held Reggie back with his inaccuracy and very little protection from his line. Brees was intercepted 4 times to make 7 on the year. Drew only had 11 all of last year.

NFL Odd Play of the Night 1st Quarter, 4th and 1 for the Saints and Drew Brees drops back and tries to throw a long pass to Colston, who was tightly covered. No confidence in the running game?

Last year, New Orleans was everybody’s favorite, as they rolled to a season that other teams can only dream about.

NFL New Orleans factoid New Orleans has had only 7 winning seasons out of 40.

After years of losing, the New Orleans Saints with Drew Brees and Reggie Bush found themselves in the Conference finals against the Bears.

As luck would have it, the game was played in the freezing wind of Chicago and the favored Bears just seemed more at ease and walked away with the victory.

Meanwhile at Tennessee, with Vince Young finding ways to win with his arms and his legs, Tennessee looked like a team on the rise, until the off season.

During the off season, the Titans strangely gave up on their starting wide receiver and running back and seemed headed for a drop off once the new season started.

The Saints need to get it in gear to justify all the preseason hype.

After two embarrassing losses, the defending NFC South champions look to avoid their first 0-3 start since 1997 - and prove they’re worthy of the hype surrounding them after reaching the NFC championship game last season. source

The fates appear to favor the Titans in this matchup of young not quite super stars.

Young will try for another strong performance Monday night after going 17-for-27 for 184 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown pass against the Colts. Young, though, was unable to connect on a fourth-down throw in the final seconds.

“Anytime the ball’s in Vince Young’s hands, everyone feels like we’re going to win the game,” Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch said. “We were just waiting for something magical to happen.”

The Titans will try for their fourth straight victory over the Saints and third in a row at the Superdome. Tennessee won 27-11 on Sept. 21, 2003 in the teams’ most recent meeting. source

As you already know, the Titans have that 4th straight victory.

Vince Young just wins and that is all his fans ask him to do!

NFL Football Fan Question
Did you think Vince would have a better career than Reggie and will he when all is said and done?
