Redskins Safety Sean Taylor Dies
NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
After being shot at his Miami home a day earlier, Sean Taylor of the Washington Redskins has passed away. He was 24-years-old.
Taylor was shot in the upper leg and had lost a substantial amount of blood. Doctors were encouraged late on Monday after Taylor seemed responsive to verbal commands. However, Taylor never regained consciousness and died in the early morning hours on Tuesday.
Taylor made the Pro Bowl in 2006 and despite missing two games this season with a knee injury this season, Taylor was tied for the lead in interceptions in the NFC with five.
Having had brushes with the law in the past, head coach Joe Gibbs noticed a change in Taylor this season.
“He loved football,” Gibbs said. “He felt like that’s what he was made to do. And I think what I’ve noticed over the last year and a half … is he matured. I think his baby had a huge impact on him. There was a real growing up in his life.”
